“Guess who made the evening news?” Alastair announced with delight in her voice and came prancing into the kitchen with a huge grin. Nathan had been forced to cook breakfast that morning after Joshua and Keiffer coerced him into doing it. Turns out, while the commotion was happening and Mrs. Pratchett was alone bawling her eyes out in the dark, the two blithering heathens had gone outside to attend some party that one of Keiffer’s emo friends had thrown. When they got back, everything was already in order — the door was restored, the windows replaced, the scratch marks on the stairs buried under a new set of rug, and the stench coming from the blood long gone. But again, as it turns out, a group of people have already seen everything before Alastair could even do something about it. O
