NATHAN’S POV Gazing down at the blazing city below, the buzzing noises of the street and the sweet scent of the north wind clung too close to my senses, wrenching me awake. When we left the boulevard at quarter past five, I had initially thought that she would bring me straight to the convenience store so I could start preparing for my shift. But as we headed down eleventh avenue, she turned a corner and before I know it, we were up on the rooftop of an old insurance company, drinking beer as though we had just been discharged from the military and are now a bunch of veterans. “What exactly are we doing here?
