And I can do it.” The deeper meaning to Cat’s revelation struck a chord in me, and I sighed harshly as she raked both her hands through her hair. Her pensive expression twisted my heart painfully, and as hard as I tried, I just couldn’t stay angry at her. “I needed to know. I won’t do it again without consulting you- I promise.”
“So, is that a ‘yes’?” The sound of sirens invaded the air, but Cat’s firm nod silenced that and everything else. Smiling broadly, I ignored the situation for a moment to reach for her and cup the back of her head. Her soft moan was like music, and our brief, hard kiss sealed her promise to me just before the police came swarming into the building.
