Amelia:
The older man and women come back carrying many big ball like gown Dresses. Each a different colour. They line us up and handed us a dress each. Once collected I realised my dress is actually a 2 piece. The top is ocean blue and covered in gold diamantes that sparkle in the light. The skirt is the same colour as the top but with a mint green lace that goes right around the skirt making flower like patterns. Woven into the flowers are gold diamantes that match the top. It is actually quite pretty.
I put the dress on and do a little twirl in the mirror. I don’t look bad. At least I don’t think I do.
“Wow”. The older lady says. “That one looks nice on you”. She smiles. “Come here so we can add some jewellery and do hair and make up”. Once we’re all made up they get us to stand back in a line.
“Ok. So tonight you will all be the entertainment and will dance for the sultan and his guesses”.
“Dance?” Rose whispers. “I can’t dance”. Mara looks over at her with an annoyed look. She must have heard what she said.
“All you have to do is stand they and wiggle your hips. It really isn’t that hard. Once you are finished then you will come back here. Have dinner and get ready for bed. Classes start first thing in the morning. Understood?”. Everyone nods.
“If you get the honour of engaging with the sultan you must bow and kiss his hand before saying a word. You also must never look him directly in the eyes”. The older man comes and stands by the door waving his hand at Mara.
“Ok. Time to go”. We walk in a straight line and are guided into a massive room full of people sitting on golden cushions on the ground. Round tables sit between them covered in mountains of food. Right in the middle at the back of the room is the most handsome man I have ever laid eyes. His black hair is shaped nicely around his face and his beard is trimmed. His muscles almost bulge out of his shirt. Unlike everyone else he seems to be dressed in modern clothes.
Since he is sitting higher then everyone else I assume he must be the Lycan king. Well we call him the Lycan king. Here he must be called the Lycan sultan. His eyes meet mine as I realise I’m staring. I turn away remembering what Mara said about not meeting his gaze. I do not want to be on the wrong side of him.
“Sultan”. She bows to him. “Mother sultana, sultanas”. She bows to the 3 ladies sitting next to him. The older lady nods back first.
“Mara” she says politely. The other 2 younger girls follow her lead nodding their heads. “How has today been going?”.
“Good mother sultana. As you can see the girls are ready”. She heaters to us. The mother sultana looks us all over. I can see the resemblances between her and the King. Sorry sultan. I have to remember that. You can see the resemblance in their brown eyes and oval shaped face.
“I though they’re were 8 girls. There’s only 7 here?”. She asks confused.
“Yes. We had an incident Mother Sultana” Mara says lowering her head.
“We’ll talk about it later”. The Mother Sultana says nodding. Mara walks over to the piano player and he starts playing. Most of the girls look quite lost in their dancing. Slowly moving their hips and waving their hands in the air. Aria taught me many dances as she believed a lady should know how to dance. Plus she believed dancing was one of the best forms of exercise. Especially for me since I sucked at training.
I sway my hips back and forth and every so often do a little turn. My arms swirl and move along with me in the air to the music. As I dance I catch the Sultan out of the corner of his eye staying at me. At First glance he looked angry but now I think I see a hint of lust in his eyes. That can’t be right though. The music stops and we bow like Mara ordered before leaving the room.
“Amelia” Rose whispered to me. “I think you caught the eye of the sultan. He didn’t take his eyes off you once. Where did you learn to dance like that?”.
“Aria”. I whisper back.
Once we’re back in the room. A plate each is delivered to us by guards. I’m surprised at how nice the food is. I half expected them to feed us like they did on the boat, but this is real food. Rice and chicken with vegetables on the side.
“Amelia?”. The older man comes up to me. “The sultan would like to see you”. He says.
“Why? What did I do?”. I ask shocked and a little worried. Why would he want to see me?
“You don’t ask questions you just go”. Mara hisses at me.
“First you need to change”. The older man takes me to another room where many dresses hang.
“I realised I haven’t formally introduced myself name is Jeff. I’m the Sultans messager and help keep an eye on the girls”.
“Nice to meet you”. I try sounding as polite as possible. He picks a red dress and hands it to me.
“This one should fit you”. He heaters to a small room and orders me to get changed. As i walk out he looks at me in amazement.
“Amazing” he smiles. “Lets fix your hair and change that jewellery and we’ll head up”. As I follow him all I can think of his why the sultan would want to see me. Was it for what happened on the boat? Maybe his going to punish me? Please Selene don’t let it be punishment. Watch over me.
Jaxson:
I hate these parties. I always feel sorry for these girls. I do not approve of slaves but they are the traditional way of doing things and I can’t stray to far from tradition. At least that’s what my mother says. I try not to referee to them as slaves though and prefer to call them maids. Even against mothers advisement. She’s worried I treat them to much like people. They are people though and I don’t understand why I can’t treat them as such.
My father king Jaxson the first was a ruthless man. Like his father before him he believed slaves were the foundation of our rule. Slaves make us powerful. We own these people and the more we own the more powerful we are. I don’t believe that but it has been the way of my people for centuries.
Mara enters with the new girls in tow. As they enter the most incredible scent of strawberries and chocolates hit my nose.
Mate! I can feel my wolf wagging his tail.
Mate? What do you mean Mate?
Our mates here! My wolf says excitedly.
We don’t have mates anymore. We pick our own. I say back confused.
Well we have one.
I look around at the girls one by one. As I look around my eyes keep wandering back to one of the girls at the back with brown hair. She looks gorgeous in her blue dress. It matches her eyes and shows all her curves nicely. I can see how nervous she is as the music starts playing. I try to take my eyes off her to look around but I can’t. She dances so gracefully.
That’s mate! I know it is. My wolf squeals.
We don’t have mates anymore.
We do! Why don’t you believe?! My wolf gets cranky at me.
Because it hasn’t been heard of in ages and kings are expected to be with many. Mother wouldn’t approve if I choose just one.
Well I don’t want to be with anyone but our mate. Look at her. She’s like an angel.
She does look like an angel. I have to admit. After the song is over the girls leave the room. My wolf whimpers at me as our mate walks away. Now even I’m calling her my mate. What is happening here?
“Many good options”. My mother whispers at me. I nod in agreement.
“Sultan” Alana gets up from next to me. She bows once shes at my feet. “I would like to take my leave now. If that’s ok with you?”. She says politely.
“Of course”. I say. “Jeff?”. I call gesturing him with my hand as soon as Alanas out of the room.
“Yes sir?”.
“The girl in the blue dress at the back. What was her name and what should I know about her?”. I ask.
“That one is Amelia the hybrid”. He says calmly.
“Hybrid? What kinda?”
“Witch and were wolf. Rumour is she doesn’t have a wolf but that’s not what the doctor believes”.
“How old is she?”. I ask.
“Turns 18 tomorrow”. Interesting
“Send her to my room tonight”.
“Of course sir”. He bows walking away.
“I thought you were having Alana tonight?”. Mother asks raising an eye brow.
“I changed my mind”. I say walking away.
