Chapter8

Olivia's Pov:

Moon goddess, please help me. I thought as I could see my life flashing before my eyes. I rolled down the stairs, I was going to definitely die. The stairs were so many, I closed my eyes in fear, squeezing them so hard, I brace myself for the bone breaking that'll happen when I get to the floor, but that didn't happen, after 5 seconds i felt fur, opening my eyes, I saw Lucian,he had shifted, cascading me in his fur, we fell together, I didn't hit the floor, I could hear the heavy thud Lucian's body made. Dropping me, he shifted back, I could see a bruise forming on the hand.

“Are you okay?" He asked, I looked down,my knee had a little bruise, Lucian touched it and suddenly I was back in that horrible dungeon, with hands all over my body, I could hear the wicked laughter.

Moving back aggressively till my back hit the wall,I crouched and hugged myself, rocking, tears flowing as I repeated my mantra.

"Please, don't hurt me”

" I'm sorry, please don't hurt me”

Lucian immediately took some steps back, "I'm so sorry, I just want to see if you were okay”

I couldn't even register what he was saying, my eyes were on my knee, where he touched. It burned.

"I'm sorry, please don't hurt me” I keep repeating, rocking as I continued crying. Liana was whimpering too, her paw over her eyes.

My eyes glazed over, I couldn't breathe, i put my hands over my chest, clutching the tee on my body.

I didn't know how long it took, but when I came to, Valerie was crunched in front of me, she was hugging me, her hand patting my hair.

“Shhh" It's okay, you're safe.

I stopped rocking as I came to. Valerie was here? How did she get here? How was she able to help? why did she help? I thought she hated me.

I was crying anymore, when Valerie saw that I was calm, she looked at me and tucked my hair behind my ears as it was now all over the place, I could see Lucian, he was a bit far.

I felt guilty. He was trying to help. He saved me. All I could do was have a panic attack when he was trying to just help.

"How are you feeling?” Valerie asked.

I looked back to her and nodded. I felt parched. We were still on the floor, Valerie led me to the couch. Lucian followed behind us but maintained a distance.

"Can I get you water?” I didn't understand why Valerie was being nice to me. I nodded anyway.

She stood up, got me water, I gulped it within seconds. Everywhere became awkward and quiet.

Lucian cleared his throat. “The warriors, I'm supposed to meet them for a meeting, I'll see you later"

“Okay." Valerie replied, I didn't have it in me to reply. As Lucian left, the door clicked shut after him. The air felt heavier.

“Right, I wanted to apologize" Valerie started.

What? Apologize?

“You don't need to look so shocked. I'm not that bad of a person, I was just angry." She laughed, awkwardly.

I didn't say anything, she continued.

"When I heard you were about to reject him, i was scared, I didn't want him to go through something like that a second time, so I lashed out on you, I'm sorry for that”

To be honest, I knew her anger was valid. After all, I was about to hurt her twin in the worse way possible, i could understand her crash out.

"I-It’s f-fine, I-I’m sorry, t-too." I stuttered out.

“So you really want to reject him?" She asks. I didn't reply. I didn't know what to say.

“Look, I can't force you to change your decision but Lucian has been through so much. He deserves the best. You should give your bond a chance. Try it out. Take a step of faith. I'm not saying this because he's my brother but Lucian is a good man."

I knew he was a good man, but what had to be done, had to be done.

"You don't even have to rush anything, y'all can go slow, be friends even."

At that, I turned to look at her.

“Friends? We can really be friends?"

“Yes, it's better than both of you going through pain"

She was right, being friends as mates is like very impossible and hard, because the mate bond works to bring mates together. Our bond isn't so strong, being friends could work.

“Okay, I won't reject him, I'll be his friend” I say.

" Oh,good!” Valerie said with excitement.

When she wasn't sneering, she was a nice person, I noted.

"Are you hungry?” She asks. On cue, my stomach rumbled. She laughed, while my cheeks burned with embarrassment.

“I can't cook for s**t, but we can order."

Valerie ordered pasta. It tasted like heaven. After we were done, she stayed for another hour before leaving, saying she had something to do. I was all alone in the big house.

Deciding to watch a movie, picked up the remote, I hadn't watched a movie in years, i didn't know how the remote worked. Sadly, I dropped the remote.

Crossing my legs, I sighed. I put my hands in my hair, it was so greasy. I didn't wash it when I showered earlier, deciding to wash it. I stood up and made my way to the beautiful room Lucian gave me. The room was so big!

Entering the bathroom, i decided to use the bath tub, I just had to figure out how to fill water in it, and wash my hair.

Lucian's POV:

I got to the house, it was quiet, alarmingly quiet, i couldn't see Olivia around, Valerie too.

“Olivia!"

“Little wolf!" I got no reply.

Panicking, I sprinted up the stairs to her room, opening the door in haste.

Olivia was standing in the middle of the room. Water dripping down her long strands, a towel was wrapped around her, as she dried her hair with another one. I gulped.

She looked at me wide eyed.
