7. A pleasant surprise

The life after completing the mating process was not any different for Grayson and Michelle. They still could not figure out how to break the news about their mating to their respective families and current leaders. Every time they tried to discuss about inter-species mating, the response they got was never positive. Their leaders were strict about not mingling with the other species to protect their people and their bloodlines. They continued going on dates and meeting behind the waterfall. But Grayson’s wolf was losing his patience, he was getting more protective of Michelle by the day and always wanted her in front of his eyes. Michelle also had an unexplainable need to be around Grayson. She was sure that this need had nothing to do with their mate-pull.

It has been 3 months since they completed their mating, although not much has changed they still felt a sense of completion. At least as long as they were together.

They were both swamped with their duties. Grayson was busy with his beta duties and learning the ropes of his family businesses, whereas Michelle was busy training to be the strongest witch of her time and to be the next leader of her coven. They still made time to see each other. It was not enough though. They were both miserable when they were apart. Every single time they separated from each other they had this unexplainable hollow feeling in their hearts.

Grayson’s beast was always agitated and growl at everyone. Even Grayson himself was feeling like he is failing his duties, but he could not understand which duties. He was doing a better as a mate. Taking Michelle on dates, spending every free second talking to her on phone/sms. No matter how much he tried he could not understand these negative feelings that have made a permanent home in his heart and mind. He was anxious to let his mate go back to her coven every time they were together. He tried so many times telling himself that Michelle was a powerful witch, and she is only going back to her family and coven but still the anxiety did not go away. He did not want to pressurize Michelle into leaving her family and moving in his pack house with him. Especially because they have not even told anyone about their mating. Even though Alpha Dominic knew that Grayson has found his mate, but he did not know the whole story. Grayson told his Alpha that his mate is a human. Although, it was a crime to lie to your alpha, but Grayson’s hands were tied. So, Grayson decided to keep his worries to himself.

Michelle was also no different from Grayson. The emptiness and longing for Grayson and his warmth was unbearable for Michelle. She could not sleepy, could not eat. She even started throwing up anything she ate for the past couple of days. The only time she was able to keep anything down was when she was with Grayson.

Even though she was in denial. She had some idea about what was happening to her. She knew that soon hiding her pregnancy and mating will become even more difficult. And she could not take risk of her family finding out about anything anymore. There was a fear in her heart that was clenching her heart and soul. A fear so strong that she was ready to sacrifice anything and everyone to keep the truth about her mating hidden.

She knew where this fear was coming from. It was her instincts, her motherly instincts despite the fact that she did not know if she was pregnant or not. It seems like her body and soul knew and they were warning her about the dangers of revealing the truth about her mating. She decided to go with her instincts. It was like she suddenly developed a sixth sense which she never had before. It could be the wolf that is growing inside her. But first she had to be sure if she is pregnant. Even though every cell in her body was telling her that she was pregnant she still had to be 100% sure.

She knew Grayson was also feeling the effects of her pregnancy. He was trying to hide his anxiety and impatience from the mate bond, but she could still feel it oozing out of his body. His wolf was anxious to let its’ mate and pup leave its’ sight. Although, Grayson was yet unaware of her pregnancy.

At first Michelle decided to take a pregnancy test on her own but she decided that if she is pregnant, she wants to share everything with Grayson. Even the first test to confirm her pregnancy. She wants to share the happiness and joy of finding out that she is carrying Grayson’s pup with Grayson. So, she bought the pregnancy test and hid it in her bag to use it when she goes to see Grayson.

Michelle was lost in her thoughts when she was walking towards the coven borders. She realised that since she found out about Grayson being her mate, her whole life has been revolving around Grayson. She trains, works according to Grayson’s timings. When she knows Grayson is busy, she keeps herself busy. Her contact with her best friends and family has also become limited. Only small chat during meals and training She has also stopped spending time with her best friend after school. In fear that she might say something that will make her suspicious of Michelle’s whereabouts and the secrets she has been keeping. Everybody is cutting her some slack and leaving her to her own devices knowing that she is probably only stressed out about taking over the coven duties.

But only Michelle knows the real reason why she has limited her contact with her family and friends. Soon Michelle reached the coven borders and from there decided to teleport directly to their usual meeting point. From there they will both walk to the waterfalls together, hand in hand. The moment she reached their meeting point and saw Grayson sitting on a boulder waiting for her, Michelle’s nerves hit her full force. Suddenly she realized that if she is pregnant the whole game plan will change. She was also worried about Grayson’s reaction. They never talked about children. They were both so young right now, only 18yo. What if Grayson did not want to be a parent right now and gets disappointed and upset. What if Grayson thought that I am trapping him with pregnancy. All these thoughts started swirling in her mind. Making her heartbeat faster, her hands to shake and her whole body to swelter.

Grayson on the other hand was so excited to see his mate again that he did not notice the change in Michelle’s behavior and emotions. He ran towards Michelle and wrapped her in his arms, hugging her tight close to his chest. Michelle tried to hide her emotions and return Grayson’s excitement. She gave her dazzling smile to Grayson, and both shared a slow passionate kiss before moving towards the waterfalls. Grayson started talking about his day and how much he missed Michelle, whereas Michelle was lost in her thoughts. She knew she needed to talk to Grayson about her suspicions, but she was unable to bring herself to do so. Her nerves were driving her insane. Grayson’s hands moving in front of her face brought her back, she saw Grayson looking intently at her. She realized that he must have noticed the change in her behaviour. Grayson asked her what was wrong. Michelle took a deep breath, smiled a little and told Grayson that she has something to tell him, and that they need to talk when they reach the waterfall. This made Grayson nervous too. Now, he was thinking about what could be so serious that has Michelle troubled. He was imagining the worst things in the world; his mind went back to his beast’s behavior and his protectiveness. His anxiety and nervousness to leave their mate alone. Grayson believed that something bad must have happened that his beast was trying to tell him in advance.

Soon they reached the waterfall, lost in their thoughts. Instead of going to the cave Michelle decided to sit at the bank of the river and talk to Grayson. She took a much needed deep and long breath. She inhaled through her mouth and exhaled through her nose, needing more oxygen to calm her nerves. She thought about it for a few minutes and decided to just get on with it. She took the pregnancy test out of her kit and showed it to Grayson. Grayson understood what was happening and doubled over laughing. His behaviour confused Michelle and she asked him why he was laughing but her mate kept laughing, ignoring her question.

Grayson was laughing so hard that it took him a few minutes to compose himself, this made Michelle furious. She was going mad with her nerves and Grayson was having the time of his life making fun of her. Grayson noticed angry expression on Michelle and composed himself.

I apologize. I was just relieved that it is nothing bad and actually the happiest thing happening to us after meeting and mating with you. Grayson said, after composing himself and smiling a little towards the love of his life. When Michelle’s anger did not dissipate, he moved closer to her, palmed her face in his hands and kissed her forehead before wrapping her up in a tight hug. He started explaining the things going on in his mind for the past few weeks.

I have been having constant anxiety, my wolf is restless and angry all the time. Especially when he has to see you leave after meeting us. My wolf feels like he is giving up his soul. Watching you leave rips our heart in half in the most gruesome way. On top of that I have this feeling that I am failing somehow in protecting you and as a mate, Grayson explained to Michelle.

But now I understand why I was feeling the way I was. It was because my wolf was anxious about the safety of his pregnant mate. Which is very normal, as wolves are protective of their mates, but the are extreme when it comes to pregnant mates, Grayson explained further.

This brought happy smile on Michelle’s face and all her anger and worries disappeared. She realised at that moment that there is Grayson is in it for the long haul, pregnancy, or running away with her. Grayson will do it all in a heartbeat. She sat down holding Grayson’s hand at the edge of the water and started explaining.

I have been feeling the same way, Michelle starts. My protective instincts are also going haywire. I want you around me all the time. It feels like I am leaving my heart behind, every time I leave, says Michelle.

I realized what was happening two days ago and that is when I bought a pregnancy test. I understood it’s the pup that wants its father with it all the time. Michelle continues.

And the mother does not want the father around? Grayson teases, smiling.

Michelle laughs and hits Grayson on the arm lightly. “you know what I mean,” She says.

What I am trying to say is that it might be the pregnancy that is driving us both mad with emotions. As we both know that it rarely happens when mates live separately after mating, that too on two different lands. Add a pregnancy on top of that and you have a disaster waiting to happen if we do not do something about our situation, Michelle continues in one breath.

I thought I would test if I were really pregnant to make sure. That is the reason I brought pregnancy test. Grayson’s eyebrow rose when he heard that Michelle has not done the pregnancy test yet. He asked her why she has not to which she replied that She wanted to see the results with you. So, that if the results are positive, we can celebrate together.

Grayson’s heart felt warmth at Michelle’s statement. His mate really is the most considerate and cooperating person he has ever met. How did he get so lucky, he has no idea. He was unable to control his emotions and kissed Michelle with all the passion and love he had. The kiss was forceful with Grayson’s hands roaming over Michelle’s body and settling on her bubble butt. They kissed until their lungs allowed and then stopped to take a breather.

Michelle smiled at Grayson and moved a little further away. She wanted to do the test soon. She wanted to know if she is going to be a mother. She explained the same to Grayson and they decided to do the test first. Michelle went behind some bushes to pee on the stick and Grayson turned his back towards Michelle to give her some privacy. After peeing on the stick and adjusting her clothes Michelle came out of the bushes and called for Grayson to turn around. The test said that they must wait for two minutes to find out the results. Both waited with abated breaths, holding each other’s hand.

Michelle kept glancing at her wristwatch to see how long it has been and Grayson could not move his eyes away from the stick. He wanted to be a father, he wanted nothing more than to have a baby with his mate. A tiny human being that is half Grayson and half Michelle. He knows that the baby will be the most beautiful, most amazing, and powerful beta in the world, having the genes of the most powerful betas and the most powerful witch in the world.

The watch beeped on Michelle’s wrist, signalling that the two minutes are over. Michelle and Grayson looked at each other and nodded. In slow motion both their eyes darted towards the stick that will tell them if their mating has been fruitful.

The stick showed two vertical lines which confused Grayson. Michelle on the other hand screamed in joy which let Grayson know that the result is positive. Both mates hugged each other and cried the tears of joy.

Grayson kissed his mate again, their lips dancing with each other in perfect rhythm, celebrating the arrival of their baby. Grayson’s wandering hands moved under Michelle’s top fondling her breasts, pinching her n****e. Grayson started trailing wet kisses towards the right side of Michelle’s jaw to her neck and started sucking on her mate mark.

Michelle stopped Grayson as she did not want to make love with her mate in the open. Grayson picked Michelle up, his hands on her ass as she wrapped her legs around Grayson’s torso. They walked towards the cave and the moment they entered Grayson attacked Michelle’s lips in a bruising kiss. They made love continuously for the next few hours, bathing in each other’s juices and scent.
