As soon as I got into the back seat of the car, I collapsed into Jesse’s arms. "Why doesn’t she love me?" My voice cracked as I buried my face in his chest. "Aren’t I enough for her?" A single tear slipped down my cheek, the pain clawing at my heart. Jesse gently wiped it away. "You’re more than enough," he murmured. "She just can’t see clearly." His voice was soothing, but the bitterness inside me only grew. "She’s lost a diamond for a stone," he added, his tone darkening. Then, after a brief pause, he asked, "Should I handle her for you?"
