Fannie's cry woke me up. When I opened my eyes, I saw scorching heat and dazzling fire. The thick smoke made me close my eyes again and cough. I was afraid of fire. It was a secret, though no one cared about why. I was afraid of fire and blood since I was 5 years old. I was so scared that I curled up. The fire had burned all the wooden furniture. The sound of wood burning became louder and louder, which mixed with the sound of burning air came into my ears. I began to have tinnitus and popping sounds. I hid away from the cotton fabric, wet my cuffs with water and covered my mouth and nose. I wanted to find the direction of the window and the door to escape. The window was flooded by the fire. I tried to open the door, but the collapsed bookshelf blocked my way. I realized that I was trapped in the fire. The fire seemed to chase me. I tried to shift and rush out. The tongue of fire immediately reached my fur. The burning sensation and pain stimulated my nerves. I couldn't make it. The thick smoke affected my vision, and the scene in my eyes became gray. I knew that I was losing consciousness gradually, and I wanted to shout for help. But now I couldn't even see the direction of the window. I didn't know if someone would save me. I felt desperate. After all, no one here would risk their lives to save me. My consciousness was collapsing and my eyelids were almost closed. I struggled to get up. I felt my body being pressed by something heavy. I felt no pain but suffocation. I seemed to see a wolf rushing in and his color was red-brown in the fire. I couldn't see clearly. I fell straight down with a heavy brain. When I woke up again, it was sunset and dusk. I opened my eyes and saw a pure white ceiling. I smelled a strong smell of disinfectant. I realized that I had been saved. Now I was in the hospital. I was surprised that I would be saved. The fire was very fierce. I didn't expect that someone would rush into the fire to save me. There were intermittent quarrels outside the door. My hearing was affected by the fire, but not very serious, I had short tinnitus, which should be the sequelae of the fire. I stood up and found myself wrapped in bandage. I didn't feel very severe pain. I guessed I wasn't seriously injured. I leaned against the door, and there was Miranda's voice outside. "You are crazy. You are the Alpha of our pack, but you risk your life to save a jinx. Look at your injuries. You are hurt much more seriously than her. Do you think it's worth it?" When I heard Zack's words, his voice was deliberately lowered. "That’s enough, Miranda, this is the hospital. Can you keep your voice down?" Miranda's voice kept rising. She almost shouted, "Is it because we are at the hospital? Are you sure you want me to keep my voice down because we are in the hospital, not because the unlucky guy is still asleep? Frankly, Alpha, you just want me to keep my voice down so as not to wake her up." I was surprised at Miranda's words. It was Zack who saved me, but he had refused me. His lover was Annieka. Why did he come to save me? Was he seriously injured? My heart was full of confusion and loss. Did this mean that he also had some feelings on me? I hid behind the door to eavesdrop. It seemed that Zack left impatiently, and Miranda's voice disappeared. I had to lie back in the hospital bed. The doctor said that I had no serious problem, I just needed to go back to the hospital for checks on time . I tried to ask the doctor about Zack's injury, and the doctor explained to me what happened, "A fire broke out in your room yesterday. When it was discovered, the fire had spread greatly. Now the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Someone may come to ask for information about the fire. You were rescued by Alpha Zack. It’s said that when he found you, you had fled to the stairway. The cause of your coma was carbon monoxide poisoning caused by thick smoke. Your desire to live saves yourself. Otherwise, even Alpha couldn’t save you from such a fire. " Stairwell? I frowned. I didn’t remember that I had been able to rush out of the room. The road was blocked by bookshelves. Before I lost consciousness, I saw a wolf rush in. Maybe it's my illusion, but it's an indisputable fact that Zack saved me. Sure enough, as the doctor said, someone came to me later to ask me about the details of the fire. I explained my experience to them and got some details I didn't know. My door was locked, but I didn't remember that the door was locked, the windows were also closed. But I liked the night wind, so the windows should be kept open. Maybe I forgot. After all, the quarrel in the morning upset me. Subconsciously, I touched the necklace on my neck. The touch of the ring made me feel at ease. I was taken to the temporary accommodation room. I opened the window to feel the gentle wind. I saw Zack outside the window. He was looking at me, with a bandage on his forehead, his left hand and his shoulder. His right hand was in plaster. Fortunately, there was nothing wrong with his legs except some obvious abrasions. There were only slight burns on my body. I suddenly wanted to talk to him. I didn't know whether he would like to talk with me. I didn't think too much and immediately turned around and rushed out of the door and went downstairs. He was still waiting until I walked in front of him. The beating frequency of my heart was obviously abnormal. The congestion of my brain felt like high blood pressure. I felt that if I didn't take a few deep breaths and calmed down, I would be killed by the deer jumping in my heart. "HMM... are you OK with your injury?" My voice was too small. I'm not even sure if he could hear me clearly. After all, I can't even hear what I'm saying. Maybe it's because of the loud sound of my heart beating. Would he hear my heartbeat? Zack showed me his right hand in plaster and replied, "not bad. I didn't stay in the fire for a long time. These injuries are caused by other factors." I didn't care what other factors he said specifically mean. He was injured because of saving me, and I had the responsibility for his injury. I still wanted to say something to him, but I didn't know how to begin or what to say. I'm very nervous. I wanted to ask him why he rushed into the fire to save me. Maybe it's Alpha's responsibility. But strictly speaking, I didn't belong to the Blue Shield Pack, but he had always been a kind man since before. Maybe it's just timely help for him. In fact, I was very nervous and expected him to say something. Maybe he didn't hate me very much. I kept my head down, my fingers rolled up the hem, wringing out wrinkles. I didn't know what I was doing. I wanted to hide my loss, but it seemed to be in vain. "Have a good rest, good night." I heard Zack's voice hovering over my head. The figure blocking the moonlight turned and left. The soft moonlight poured on my face. I stood there and watched him walk towards the woods. I didn't understand why he went there so late. I didn't follow up. I didn't react until he disappeared from my sight. I waved in the air and said, "good night." Zack’s POV I was relieved to see she was safe. When I heard that her room was on fire, my heart and my brain seemed to stop working. When I rushed into her room, there was already another wolf standing beside her, he was huge and reddish brown in the light of the fire. He jumped out of the fire with Aniga on his back, and then put her down at the stairwell where the fire was not so big.
