The only proof of life is the beeping of the ECG machine connected to Laurel. The doctor, bent over Laurel, raises his head to look at Electra standing by the door. Even with the mask over his face, Electra recognizes him. The dark orbs sparkling with knowledge staring at her were the same eyes she had stared into when she visited the hospital with Laurel. Dr Mac. The surprise in his eyes dwindles as recognition replaces it. He knows Electra. He bends back over Laurel. “You are here.” He says and continues whatever he was doing to her. Slowly, Electra trudges into the room, each step forward more terrifying than the last. She takes almost an eternity, but she finally makes it to the gurney on which the frail figure of Laurel lies.
