Decision
Avonn Mur, former premiere guard to Costell Malandon Carq, heard the sound of boots echoing down the stone steps. He knew it wasn’t time for his single meal of the day, which could only mean Carq had other plans for him.
“Mur.”
The guard he recognized as Fossin stood on the other side of his cell. Mur noticed the man held his whip at-ready. The length of it glowed a dark blue, showing it was at its lowest setting. If the man used it on him, it would stun him enough to prevent him from fighting back, but it wouldn’t kill him.
“Mur!” Fossin repeated. “Come. The costell wants to see you.”
Mur slowly got to his feet and shuffled forward. Fossin stepped aside to let him pass. Sensing the guard’s tension, he gave the man a weary smile. “You have nothing to fear from me.
