Discussion
Genesee drifted in and out of sleep. Egan’s arm about her waist remained rock-steady, allowing her to rest against his chest and shoulder. How she managed to relax while on her feet surprised her.
As the darkness grew, the forvs finally appeared. A couple clung to each basket, giving them enough illumination to see the road ahead. With the temperature also dropping, she noticed how they shook themselves until they were little balls of puffiness, giving their internal lights a soft, almost ethereal glow.
Turning around in his embrace, she thought she caught a glimpse of brightness on the horizon. She drew her wrap tighter around her as she shivered from the cold and his arm automatically shifted in response.
“Are you uncomfortable?”
She glanced up to see his face
