Chapter 17
Ambush
It was still dark when someone roughly grabbed her. Before she could cry out, a cloth was shoved into her mouth and her arms were jerked behind her back. Instinctively, Genesee bit down hard, burying her teeth in the fingers attempting to gag her. She heard a yelp of pain before she was backhanded across the side of her face.
“Bite me, will you?” a voice growled.
A cloth sack was shoved over her head, but not before she caught a glimpse of the man’s face. She didn’t recognize the person, but she could tell he was a soldier. She had no doubts as to who had sent him, and what their intentions were.
The second man, whom she couldn’t see, finished tying her wrists together. Someone gave her shoulders a shove. “She’s ready. Go.”
