Egan sat in her room, on the edge of the bed where she’d slept. After taking the other Charms back to their ships, he’d stayed until the pods were no longer visible. Only then did he mount his soosh to return to Unurit.
Once they returned to the fortress, he had first gone to Planchet to check on Vacot and the status of his injured guard. Discovering that his surymander and the soldier were doing better, he’d closed himself in this room and not emerged.
When it grew dark, someone had knocked on the door and left a tray in the hall by the threshold. It still sat mostly untouched on the small table near the door.
