Chapter 5 Plan Vacot waited for the inevitable. He didn’t have to wait long. The moment they arrived back at the manse, Egan isolated himself inside his audience chamber. Even through the thick walls, the surymander could hear the muffled thumps of objects being hurled inside the room. After nearly an hour, the sounds finally ceased. Vacot snagged a passing servant and requested two mugs of warm prine. The woman hastened to obey, returning with the drinks in short order. The surymander thanked her and tentatively knocked on the door. When he didn’t get any sort of response, he slowly opened it and peered inside. Egan stood at a far window.
