JOURNAL ENTRY
16 May 1718
John Bonny and I encountered the most dangerous situation imaginable. The pirate ship Fancy, under the command of Captain Edward Low captured our ship. Low is a terrifying man with a hideous gash across his cheek and jaw. Apparently it’s a wound that didn’t heal entirely shut. His face has a gruesome expression even when in repose. We did our best to precipitate flight, but the brigantine was already under full sail and quickly overtook us. Our fate looks dim.
