CHAPTER THIRTEEN Sean climbed the few steps to the first floor corridor. It was surprisingly dark, despite the glowing bulb hanging on its plaited flex. He looked at a beautifully inscribed sign on one of the doors: Common Room. ‘Common Room – for common people?’ He laughed at his own joke, turned the knob and pushed open the door. He wandered into the drawing room and took a few moments to admire the original plaster cornicing and marble fireplace. ‘Impressive.’ The door swung to behind him.
