The familiar clinks of metal paws on concrete made Citizen lower her dagger. A blue and white canine-bot walked around the corner, and its metal-linked ears perked up.
"Sid," Athan said in surprise, then he holstered his pistol.
Sid galloped in with a wagging mechanical tail. Citizen breathed a sigh of relief.
"You're back." Athan bent down and patted the metal head like it was a real pet.
Sid sat on its hind legs and a recording began playing.
