Chapter 2 Rosa groaned as she heard the sound of footsteps outside her door. She used her hand to cover her face and the last thing that she wanted to do right now was to have to wake up. She heard a sharp knock against her door and she realized that she would have to open it at some point. She adjusted her robe as she pulled the door open to find Lousia standing there. “Your father asked me to give you this. He said that I should tell you that he is sorry he couldn't make it”. She said to her and she gave her a tight-lipped smile because in truth she wasn't surprised that he had not come for her birthday. The man was barely around as it was. She took the box into her hand and found that it was a teardrop diamond necklace. But she already had three just like it. He had been on a trip for the last two months now and all that she received from him was the occasional letter. They were the wealthiest people in her small Town and yet she still didn't know what he did for a living. “I guess that it is just you and I again this year”. She said to her sadly. She watched as Rosa gave a small smile before nodding he head. “Don't worry Arturo made a strawberry shortcake and I made you some brownies. There are several presents for you to open and we were thinking of having a small get together.” She said to her and she took in how nervous she was. That was what they did every year but this year she was turning eighteen and she had been stupid enough to believe that things would be different but she had been a fool. “Fine then.” She muttered. “Okay yes I have the perfect dress for your party and everything. I know that you will love it”. She said to her with clear excitement in her tone. “Well I guess I will see you there.” She said and she watched as she nodded her head to leave. She was quick to fo her morning routine as she pulled her blonde hair into a bun and slipped on a summer dress that complimented her caramel skin. Sue slopped on her mother’s necklace as he made her way slowly out of the room. Downstairs she could already hear them bickering slightly and she couldt help but giggle. They seemed to constantly be at odds with one another and as Rosa had promised as she stepped inside she found a layered strawberry shortcake waiting for her. She smiled at the sight of it as she clutched her father's Letter tightly in her hand. "I know you are an introvert and all but I managed to track down some of your friends.” He said to her and she rolled her eyes at him. She wasn't entirely in the mood for a party. But she knew that she couldn't say anything about it. The rest of the day they spent the time getting the party ready. She was nervous to see if anyone would actually come. And as the time struck seven she began to feel herself come to the realization that it would just be the three of them. “You see you shouldn't have thrown this party. You have only succeeded in making me look like a fool.” She said in frustration as she looked at the decorations. She was perfectly fine with sitting on her couch eating cake and watching gossip girl. She was pulled out of her thoughts when suddenly she heard a knock on the door and she widened her eyes as she went to open it. She found several of her classmates from school standing there and her eyes fell on Julia who was considered the ‘queen b’ of their town. “What are you doing here?” She asked them shakily. “You invited us of course and that was why we had to come and ww diddnt now it was your birthday so happy birthday. I hope you have beer and if you dont we brought some.” She said to her and she blinked twice as she wondered if she had stepped into another reality or if what was happening in front of her was actually real. She turned around to find Louisa and Arturo gave her a thumbs up as they left. “Well I guess that all I can say to you now is that you guys should come in.” She said and they practically pushed her aside to enter the home. Soon Enough the party was in full swing. They had turned the pool into their trash can and the living room was a gaming arena. She was glad that there were people over and that there was a live party but she didn't feel as though she was involved in it at all. She felt as though she was an outsider watching it from behind the glass. She found herself a space in the kitchen as she decided to get rid of some of the cups. She was already playing clean up to the people around her. She was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard her phone ring. She pulled it out of her pocket and she let out a groan when she saw that it was her father calling. She picked up grudgingly. “Hello.” She asked shakily. She heard some shuffling on the other end as she heard the sound of loud music playing as well. She felt her eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the sound as she wondered where he was. “Hey love. I know that You are mad at me and that you don't want to talk to me right now but I swear I will be home soon.” He started but she felt it start to break up. She decided to go to the living room to get a better signal. And she found a special live broadcast on the tv. It was for a charity foundation. She found all of the people finally dressed in suits and ball gowns and she felt her body freeze when she spotted a familiar figure. It was her father. Her eyes watered at the sight. “Can you hear me? I will be back next week.” He said to her but she wasn't listening as she felt her hand tremble. “Can you be honest with me right now and tell me where you are? ''. She asked him and she watched as he inhaled deeply. “I am at a meeting”. He said to her. “I can see you on my TV dad. You didn't want to tell me that you were having fun and that you had to leave me behind like you always do. I hate you.” She yelled. But to her horror before he could respond, she heard the sound of a large explosion as she watched as the building shook before it went into flames. “Dad? dad?” She yelled but she knew he would never answer. …. It had been two weeks. Two weeks since he was taken away from her and she was still yet to get out of her grief. The Only interaction she had was with Louisa when she brought her food but she didn't want to see anyone else. She had made that clear already. She didn't want to have to go through any more hurt. She had told him she hated him and that was the last thing he had heard. That guilt was one she would carry forever and she wished she could take it away. She rolled up further into her sheets when suddenly she felt her body tense up and freeze when she heard the sound of gunshots from outside her door. She tried to steady herself in an attempt to keep herself composed as she shuffled under her bed. She didn't know what was going on as the sound of screams filled the home. She heard the sound of her bedroom door being thrown open as she closed her eyes shut. Heavy footsteps filled the room until they stilled and her bed was flipped over. The last thing she heard was a voice saying. “I finally got you.”
