Tying a belt loosely around her waist so her womanly bits were less obvious, she pulled on her leather boots. Dried blood coated the thin soles and splattered up the side. She stared at it for a moment, trying to remember the faces of those who’d lost their lives in the attack. General Altan appeared in her mind. She’d never forget the mirth in his eyes as he slaughtered young soldiers. Did he wear the same smile during the attack on Dasha? Would he have looked down on Luna lying lifeless on the ground with a grin? As she stepped from her room, she considered checking on Luca, but that could wait.
