Chapter 12: Silke“Hey, girlfriend, where are you?” Still surprised at seeing Lauren’s clunker in the driveway when she had expected her to be at the hospital visiting Kayla, Silke nudged the door open with her foot, grocery bags dangling from both arms. At the lab, they’d run out of samples for their correlation studies around noon, and while it had taken awhile to finish what they did have, even with Silke helping the lead tech compiling the results, they’d been done shortly after two. So after twiddling her thumbs for another thirty minutes, she’d decided to call it an early day and headed to H-E-B. After her and Lauren’s visit to Olive Garden the previous night, Silke needed some lighter fare and she’d found and bought plenty.
