Chapter 33: Silke“See you tonight, then.” Ana waved at Silke as she strode across the parking lot to where, somewhere in the back of the employee area, her truck was parked. “I can’t believe I agreed to this,” Silke muttered, stomping her feet and wrapping herself deeper into her jacket. A cold front had blown in and it was chillier now than it had been when she’d come to work this morning. “Where the heck are you?” But she had to wait another fifteen minutes before Alex pulled up. “The least you could do is be punctual,” Silke complained as she got in. “It would’ve helped if you had given me more than a thirty minute warning.” Unruffled, Alex steered the Mercedes out of the lot and into traffic. “That was some weird museum you sent me to. I now know more about Texas than I ever wanted.
