Madilyn's 18th Birthday POV
"Madilyn..."
"Madilyn, I am with you..."
"Madilyn....."
I thought I was dreaming. In fact, I would have sworn I was dreaming. But there was a voice inside my head that wasn't my own. I shot up out of bed, looking around frantically hoping that maybe there was someone calling me awake, but there wasn't. My eyes scan every inch of the room in hopes that I am not alone. My throat gets dry because there is no one in my room and I hear,
"There is no one here with you, it's just me."
At this point, I am out of bed making sure there isn't a speaker in my room and the boys are just trying to prank me. When it happens again.
"Madilyn, your so silly. I am inside of you. I'm your wolf."
Okay, I have to be crazy, right? I have finally snapped. Being normal isn't cut out for me.
"Ummm... did I finally go crazy?" I said, trying to look at my head.
"I can assure you that you're not crazy."
"I have to be, I'm hearing voices." I responded, confused.
"I am not just a voice, I have my own personality, hobbies, and traits. I am your wolf."
"I get it. The trauma of my childhood caused a new personality. You must be my split personality," I said.
"I was there that day but I wasn't created that day. I was born with you."
"Okay, other personality we don't talk about that day. I brought it up, granted, but we never talk about that day. Ever, got it. I am a normal girl who has an alcoholic father and an absent mother. I am nobody." I said defeatedly.
"I have a name you know. And got it, we don't talk about that day, but Madilyn, you are far from a nobody."
"What's your name, other personality?" I said jokingly, wanting to avoid the conversation.
"My name is Eden. I am not just a personality. I am your wolf. You've been seeing me for a year. I'm beautiful, aren't I?"
"Let's just pretend that wolves exist for a second. Your telling me I am a wolf. Well, you are my wolf." I said questionably.
"Wolves do exist and yes. There are many of us. Some are stronger than others. There are Omegas, Betas, and Alphas. You come from a long line of powerful wolves. But we, my sweet sweet Madilyn, we are something the world has never seen before."
"I have lost it, haven't I? If I am a wolf, why can't I change?" I said, mocking "Eden."
"Because your first shift is determined by the full moon. After that, you can shift at will."
"But the next full moon is tonight?" I tried to get out but my voice was too shaky.
This is crazy. I am not a wolf. There is a logical explanation for all of this. My thoughts are broken by a knock on the door. I went to open the door and there stood Amy, Max, and Rory with a cake and big smiles.
"Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthdayyyyy to you. HAPPYYY BIRTHDAAAY DEARR MADDDIII. Happy birthday to you." They all sang together.
"You smell like a monkey and look like one too!" Rory yelled before running away.
Max and Amy came into my room and told me to make a wish. I wish that I hadn't been going crazy.
"You can't wish me away."
Amy and Max both had weird expressions on their faces, almost like they were waiting for me to tell them something. Should I tell them? Can I trust them?
"You need to tell them, you can trust them. They are part of your pack"
"Okay Eden, are my thoughts just not my own anymore?" I thought I said in my head.
"Eden?" Amy said.
I look up at her and Max, expecting them to think I am insane and ship me off to an insane asylum. They are my family, I can trust them.
"I woke up to a voice this morning claiming to be a wolf and claiming to be called Eden. I think I might be going crazy." I said it so fast I'm surprised if they heard me correctly.
They both just hug me really tight. For some reason they smell different. They have scents. Max smells like smoked scandalwood and Amy smells like honeysuckles. They never smelt like that before.
"Welcome to the pack kid." Max says nonchalantly.
"Pack?" I responded, starting to feel dizzy.
For the second time, I blacked out.
