He forced a kiss on me!
It took me quite a while to recover from the shock. But the more I struggled against McKenzie, the tighter his grip became. He was like a feral beast that was hungering for me.
I could feel myself running out of breath. My desperation gave me a sudden surge of courage. I bit down hard on his lips and tasted blood in my mouth.
Anger appeared in McKenzie's eyes. He was like a demon full of fury as he glared at me. I held my breath, fearing for my life. Who knows if he would kill me out of rage.
But he merely pushed me away with a snort.
I immediately seized the opportunity to bolt for the door. My heart was thumping as I retreated back to the loft. I did not even look back as I ran. Fear was the only thing I felt.
Oh no! I'm done for!
I bit him!
He's gonna get back at me for doing that!
I didn't even realize at that moment that despite being violently assaulted by a man who I'd just met, I did not even feel disgusted by him. What I felt was fear, and even a sense of longing for more.
It was until later on that I found out the reason behind it. Instead of the usual salty taste of a normal person's blood, their blood tasted sweet.
My only solace was that they seemed to be following a certain set of rules, and these rules were something that they would not break.
Owen's threat to kill me if I refuse to bear their child must be a scare tactic! I reasoned. I refused to believe even a single word of what he said. I have never wronged them. And well, murder is a crime!
Screw the rules! I thought. This is just some sort of sick game they're playing!
I need to get out of here. My resolve was strengthened. I'm going to escape tonight!
There's no way I'm going to bear a child for these lunatics!
Thus my exploration of the castle continued. I deduced that the three rooms on the third floor belonged to McKenzie, James, and Owen. This is a floor that I must avoid no matter what.
I proceeded with the exploration of the castle's second floor.
It went very smoothly. The rooms on the second floor seemed to be empty guest rooms. Not a speck of dust could be seen in these rooms that had their windows and doors open.
The first floor was next.
There were servants on the first floor. I was nervous at first, but when the servants bowed at me and treated me like the mistress of the house, I eventually grew bolder.
My confidence only grew as I continued exploring the entire first floor, from the visitor's lounge, to the kitchen, the dining hall, the storage rooms, and even the servants quarters.
I eventually found myself standing before the main entrance of the castle. I circled around the entrance, the temptation to attempt to leave was strong within me.
Will anyone stop me if I try?
"Aherm!"
I jumped at the sudden voice behind me. Wait, there was no one here with me just now!
It was the old butler, who was smiling at me gently. There was no sign of anger at all.
"You cannot leave, Miss Stella."
"I know." I pouted.
"Lunch is ready. Would you like to have your meal at the dining hall, or have it delivered to your room?"
"Send it up to my room please." I was determined to avoid the three lunatics that were in my danger list.
"Very well. There will be a banquet tonight at 7pm. The young masters would like you to attend. It'll be held in the ballroom on the first floor. Please do not be late."
"Alright…"
Well… It seems that I can't avoid the banquet. But hey! At least I'll be out of here by tonight!
With the castle already scouted out, I was able to plan my "escape route".
I did not leave the loft after lunch, but strangely enough, nobody came knocking for me. I was able to spend the entire afternoon in bed. I needed the rest for what I was about to do at night.
I showed up at the ballroom on time in a pure white dress that was made of silk.
Since I'm going to escape anyway, I might as well wear as many of these expensive clothing as I like!
The three young masters sat on one side of the table. McKenzie sat at the center, while James and Owen were seated on his left and right respectively. Their conversation stopped the moment they noticed my presence.
One of the servants pulled the chair directly opposite of McKenzie for me, and motioned for me to take my seat.
The five meters between us gave me a sense of security.
I stole a glance at McKenzie, but there was nothing much I could find from his usual cold expression.
There wasn't even a bite mark on his near-perfect lips!
I knew how hard he was bitten in the afternoon! I was the one who did it!
Do they really have… Some sort of supernatural powers?
Will our child inherit their powers as well?
Wait, hold it right there! Who says I'm going to give birth to their children? I found myself blushing at that thought. You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking that, Claire!
I was expecting some sort of trick by the three of them during dinner, but reality proved me wrong. The banquet proceeded without a hitch throughout the night. The only thing I had to endure was the constant gaze I received from the three of them.
And I, who could no longer stand their constant stares, responded with a glare of my own.
Heh! Do you really think that I'll feel embarrassed by this? I can play the game as well!
I was immediately ignored by McKenzie.
James mirrored my expression with a playful smile. Hmpf! What a childish young man!
Owen, on the other hand, maintained a graceful smile on his face. But the smile was very unsettling.
Roar!
The howl of a beast broke the silence of the night.
And as one, the three of them set aside their cutleries. The air about them had drastically changed. All three of them were giving off an intimidating aura.
"The hunt is on. We'll end the banquet here. You may return to your room." McKenzie's voice was full of authority as he looked at me with his piercing gaze.
"Okay…"
He's so scary…
