Niklaus had to admit that his wife had a sassy mouth that was as sharp as a knife. It would be hard to be defeated by her. But Niklaus wondered why she was bitter towards Skylar when Niklaus only drank her blood to sustain him.
Would Becca be mad if he told her that he sucked her blood? Would she run away?
“Your mistress is a nice woman. I bet you’re regretting your decision to marry me when you can have her,” Becca stated as she was turning her head from looking outside the carriage as her vivid green eyes were looking at him. Niklaus smirked.
“Don’t tell me that you feel jealous, knowing that I have a history with her, my dear?” Niklaus taunted him before Becca scoffed at him. Niklaus thought that she would throw a tantrum, but Becca was not that kind of lady.
She was a stone-cold lady after all.
“Like I care about you, Niklaus. I for nothing from this union and if you need your fills then, you can go elsewhere to get it because I am not giving it to you,” Becca stated before Niklaus was arching his eyebrows at her.
“As you wish, my dear,” Niklaus stated as their carriage stopped in front of Belikov Estate before the footman was opening the door. Niklaus took his cane and stepped outside the carriage as he was offering his hand to Becca. She took it while she was out of the carriage. Then, they went off to their chambers.

Becca was looking at herself in the vanity mirror where her lady's maid was brushing her locks. She was looking at her face before she sighed. She cannot believe that she felt something when that wench was kissing her husband.
Her husband, that player.
Becca was looking at her face before the ladies’ maid was excusing herself. She nodded before Becca was putting some aloe on her face. She was trying to focus on her nightly routine before her mind wandered to Niklaus’ past with that wench.
Was she good in bed? Was he satisfied? Will they reconcile their feelings again? All the thoughts that Becca was trying to avoid were coming into her mind right now before she was shaking her head. “You’re better than that. You don’t love him, so you don’t have to worry about him,” she mumbled to herself as she was getting up from the chair and went to slip under the bed.
She was looking at the empty bed as Becca insisted on sleeping in her bed before she was looking at the candle. Sweet dreams, she mused as she was blowing out the candle and went to sleep. Only sleep did not come like she wanted it to.

Becca was standing in her lavish gown as she was walking down the aisle of the prayer house. She could not believe that she was smiling when she was seeing the man at the end of the altar. This is my real love, this is the man that I will be marrying, Becca thought before her fiancé turned and Becca was gasping.
There he was, Niklaus Dragomir as he was licking Skylar’s neck before his blue eyes were locking with her green orbs. Becca was trying to get to them but it seemed that it was fair for her to reach them.
“Too late, Duchess. He’s mine now,” Skylar, the opera singer, was smirking at her before Becca fell into the abyss as she was holding out her hands for Niklaus to grab it.
“Niklaus,”
“You told me that I had to find my needs elsewhere. And now that I have done,” Niklaus said as he turned to look at the opera singer, “I don’t need you anymore, Lady Rebecca Davis. Goodbye and have a nice life,” Niklaus stated before Becca was falling into the abyss of her own mistake.

Becca had been thinking about that dream as she was sipping on her tea as they were having breakfast, a few weeks after that entertaining night. Niklaus had been going in and out of the Higher Court with an occasional outing for both of them, as they would show to polite society that they were happy.
Only if it was true.
Becca was staring at her husband who was reading the paper, The Island. He was sipping on his coffee before Becca was eating her scrambled eggs. The Cook had outdone herself when the duke married. Becca knew that the cook would prepare something luxurious that could feed an entire village as if she was pregnant.
Was the household thinking that? That their lord was finally having a baby?
Becca would laugh if they asked her. She did not share the same bed with Niklaus after that first night when she was drunk and Niklaus told her that he did not attack her in her sleep. He said that Becca would beg for it herself.
Yeah, in my dreams perhaps, Becca mused before she was thinking about those dreams. It still haunted her whenever she went to sleep during the day. Becca did not know why she was having this dream but she knew that if it did not stop now, she would go insane.
“Do you have any plans for today, my dear?” Niklaus asked her as Becca was snapping at the present. She dabbed the napkin on her mouth before she smiled at her husband.
“I was thinking that I would just stay in the library and read today. Why, my lord? Do you have to go somewhere?’ Becca asked her husband as Niklaus was folding his papers before his fair hair greeting Becca’s eyes and his deep blue orbs. They were mesmerizing, she mused before she slapped herself mentally as Niklaus was sighing.
“Something came up in court. I have to get there as soon as possible. Are you sure you would not like to come to town with me?” Niklaus asked her as Becca shook her head.
“No, my lord. I think my feet were not ready to go for a walk just yet,” Becca said as Niklaus was nodding at her.
“Okay then. I see you tonight then,” Niklaus stated as he got up from his seat before he was moving toward the door. Then, he stopped and walked toward Becca again. She was not prepared for what happened next as Niklaus just grabbed her arm and pulled her up.
“Don’t wait up,” he smirked before he was kissing Becca on the lips. She gasped before Niklaus was plunging his tongue inside her mouth and tasted her. Niklaus groaned before he released her. “You’re such a tease, my dear,” Niklaus said before he perked her lips and strode out of the room.
Becca was too stunned to do anything but touch her lips. When it was tingling, they were tingling his kisses. Dear Lord, I think I might succumb to his charms next time he does that, Becca mused before a smile was on her lips.
But, of course, that would not be the case when the morning came.

Becca was looking out the window of her bedchamber when the sky was glistening with the dawn. She sighed before she was looking at the grandfather clock. Niklaus was not home yet she was pacing back and forth as she was trying not to think about the possibilities that might happen to her husband.
Was he being attacked? Was he hurt? Was he busy enough that he couldn't make it home tonight? Becca was biting her fingernails, which would make her tutor scowl in her direction when she was an adolescent. “Where are you, Niklaus?” Becca mumbled when she was looking at the raining dawn. It was heavy by the minute when her ladies’ maid was coming to get her.
“Milady, it’s time to go to bed. Milord did say that you should not wait up for him,” her ladies’ maid told Becca before she was looking at the maid and then at the window again. She sighed before she nodded her head.
“Okay, let’s go then,” she stated before Becca walked out of the drawing room and walked to her chamber. She did not feel like she wanted to sleep in her bed tonight and so, she instructed the maid to stock the fire in Niklaus’ chamber. The maid was blinking her eyes before she went to do it.
Becca was slipping under the cover before she smelled her husband’s faint sandalwood scent. It calmed her down before she closed her eyes. And this time, the nightmare was not here for the first time.
This time, she was seeing a couple, one with fair hair and one with black hair, holding a child that was between them. Becca smiled in that dream as she was drowning in her happy ending.

The night came before. She was stretching out as she was looking at the dusk light. Becca smiled as she was getting off the bed and went to clean herself to make her presentable for her husband. She was excited to see Niklaus as he had never been out of their house ever since they were married. Maybe I would greet him as a normal wife would, Becca mused as she was putting her hair in crowns before she was gathering her skirts and went downstairs. She was getting to the dining hall before her eyes were trained on the papers today.
Becca went to see what was on the first page before she was gripping the papers. She was breathing hard as she was looking at the caricature with familiar fair hair before she was looking at the woman that was beside her husband. The headline of The Island was ‘Duke of Belikov fancied another? Where is his beautiful wife?’ Becca was breathing hard before she got out of the dining room.
“Milady, breakfast is served—“ the butler was being ignored by Becca as she was making her way to her bedchamber when she was looking furious. Becca would show Niklaus that she was not to be messed with.
