The scavenger hunt

Part 3

We were so surprised when we heard the announcement!  Among everything we’ve imagined, this idea never came up. We thought it would be bad but it’s not! We are going to do a scavenger hunt in the forest! I have never done a proper scavenger hunt before. Of course, for one of my birthdays, my parents had hidden my gift, and gave me clues so that I could find it but it was not a real one!

What is great is that the monitors are happy to see us like this. They are aware that for once we are going to enjoy it. They also told us that we are going to compete with another group from the camp! We’ve talked with them a lot so they are like friends to us. Apparently, they are quite lucky because when we are talking about what we are doing outside of the camp, they always tell us better things that they’ve done. I don’t have one specific example in mind though I just remember that it seemed great. However now, they are our enemies and we will have to consider them as this. We do not know what is going to be the reward for the winner’s team although that’s not really why we are doing this. We just want to have fun. Even if we end only finding a pen that will be okay because nothing can replace the memories that we are going to have from this activity. And I’m sure there will be plenty of them!

I am so happy right now. It’s been such a long time that I have been like this, that I haven’t felt these emotions and it’s just amazing. It’s really funny because I think that this little moment is going to replace every annoying and bad moment that I have had here. I know that I am definitely going to be nostalgic about it. I will wonder why I have always been complaining. Why haven’t I just enjoyed? But I don’t care, the future is the future. If I have regrets then I can do nothing about it! This moment is also going to be good for me, and especially for my mind. As I’ll be busy searching for clues, I’ll not be thinking about the recent events about my family.

We were told that it is going to start right after lunch. They hesitated to begin the hunt before, but as they are responsible for us, they were scared of us not eating and therefore be sick in the middle of the forest. Which is actually smart because to be honest, we would have skipped the lunch part in order to be faster and win.
