The scavenger hunt

Part 5

We finally made them change their mind about the fact that we have to be the whole group against the other group. We asked them if we could split each group in two, which will make this better for us. After giving plenty of arguments, they ended up agreeing with our proposition. So there will be two group of eight and two group of seven. I couldn’t imagine trying to search something with fifteen people. We might have been more efficient although I am not really convinced about it. It would have slowed us down. There would have been people who would have done nothing because fifteen people is a big number. Way too big for a scavenger hunt.

It should start in twenty minutes. They gave us some time for us to talk strategy and in the meantime, they check if everything is in the right place. We get along very well in my team. However, it wasn’t a surprise. I already knew that everyone liked everyone here so it was great knowing that in advance. Less stress. It is quite funny because I am aware that we’ll be alone into the woods (well not really alone, but you got what I mean) and I don’t feel any fear about it. I know that I could totally freak out. That’s actually something which had happened a few years ago. I was hiking with my parents and at some point, I’ve lost them. I was panicking so much, I wanted to do away with everything that I had in my hands but I inhaled and exhaled for a few seconds and I was able to think clear again. I have found them a little bit after. They were looking for me and I’ve just reassured them because they were shouting out my name. At that moment, it was quite a bad memory but now, I would give anything to come back to this moment when I was with my family, enjoying my time with them. I will have good memories again that’s for sure though my mom will not be a part of them. That’s what saddens me.

Let’s not make this moment gloomy. Instead, I should try to guess what is going to be the prize at the end of the scavenger hunt. They will definitely not offer money. We are under eighteen so it wouldn’t be legal to do this I think. I am no sure though to be honest. I haven’t read every official rules about camp. It would have been a waste of time. What could it be? A gift card in a shop? No, it would be too difficult for them. We come from different parts of the country, we don’t have the same shops. Also, good luck to find a shop which is appreciated by everyone! It could be food. However, there is also a problem. Some people are allergic to some kinds of food, some don’t eat meat, etc. They could invite us to a restaurant but when? We are leaving tonight. On the road maybe. It could be this, though that would not be the best gift ever. But it’s still a gift.

I’ve kept thinking about it and I came with other ideas although they were not really likely to happen. Like going to a theme park or abroad, as we are quite close to a foreign country. I know that it is totally unlikely to happen but we will never know!
