Departure

Mavis POV: 

Cool crisp air, the sound of trees blowing in the wind, and the sound of the early morning birds chirping. This is what I love about living in the woods, it’s always very peaceful. As I stir awake and hug the blanket a little closer. I realized at that moment though that I made a mistake, I slept in the greenhouse again. I quickly take the blanket and fold it and put it back in the trunk and put things back where they are to be. After which I Hurley leave my haven, and rush to my room. I jump over plants and bushes carefully missing the flowers and climb up the bricking and climb through my window. As I creep towards my bed, once I'm in, the window is shut, quietly I tiptoed towards my bed. But I was halted in my tracks at the words said, “ I see you slept in the garden again?” I sigh knowing I’ve been caught red-handed again by of course my mother. “Well good morning to you too.” no longer having to be quiet I walk and flop down in my fuzzy chair and ask, “so what do I owe the pleasure of seeing my lovely mother this early in the morning?”   She scowls at my unladylike posture flopped in the chair, “well if you remember” she started “like you’re supposed too, you,  your father, alpha embers and his son, your betrothed, Aaron, are all going to be going to the council meeting and you’ll be leaving today. I didn’t have a chance to tell you before you rushed off after dinner that you needed to pack. so, we will be doing it this morning bright and early since you decided that you want to be out all night doing God knows what in that shabby little greenhouse.”  anger rises in me at the mention of her calling the greenhouse in the garden shabby but I Qello my anger, “fine, I’ll get started now...” So before I can finish my sentence my mother raised a hand to silence me, “ oh dear, you have the wrong impression.  I am the one that will be packing for you, if you’re going to go to the council, you will be dressed appropriately. NOT in this new age garbage you call clothing, I will not let you embarrass our family in front of the council and that is final!” Her tone leaves no room for discussion.  “ whatever.” She nods her head knowing she’s one and then starts packing whatever horrible clothing she will pick out.

After two hours she packed the most freely and gone off of girly clothing I internally grown thinking I have to wear that to go meet some of the most well-known and esteemed members of our world looking like a porcelain doll.  fortunately, the shoes weren’t bad most of them I liked because despite me wearing T-shirts and jeans for the most part I did like pairing them with high heels. As my mother was making her way to the bathroom to grab make up my father hollered from downstairs that we need to get going which was more than enough for me to grab the bags I hadn’t said “I guess I’ll have to get some new makeup when I get there!” She shouts something indiscernibleafter me as I fly down the hallway and out the front door tossing my luggage in the car and getting in.  after I am buckled in I internally gag realizing I just sat directly next to Aaron, in the obscenely small cramped backseat, where I’m sitting on him. He smiles, “ glad to see you’ve warmed up to me so quickly, my dear.” he wraps his arms around my waist. I grit my teeth to keep from vomiting in the backseat from his touch. 

A deep rumbling growl moves through the car and we all still, “if you value your life boy, you will remove your hands from my daughter immediately, I do not care that you are engaged or not. until you are mated, you will not touch her in such an inappropriate manner, especially in my presence.” my father ground out. “I deeply apologize for my son's insolence, I will be more strict with his manners as he has not seemed to learn them.”  Both my father and Alpha Ember glared at Aaron as Aaron released my waist. I let out a breath of relief and thought to myself, this is going to be a very long four-hour drive. 

Atlas POV 

Flying. The wright brothers should have been hung for creating such a horrible contraption. Humans and supernatural alike are not supposed to fly unless given wings or spells neither of which I had. 

“Attention passengers, this is your captain speaking I would like to thank you for your patience And understanding while we were flying through that storm, it got a little rough there but we are in the clear and will be arriving at Seattle international Airport (SETAC) within the hour, please enjoy the rest of the flight and there will be some free refreshments past around for the trouble.” 

After the captain was done speaking I relaxed a bit. the turbulence we had experienced was quite troublesome. Though not quite sure I’ll ever get over seeing Reed almost clinging to the ceiling like he was going to die and pass out from a heart attack, even though the situation was horrible,  it was like watching a comedy unfold and I couldn’t help snickering a couple of times. I smiled to myself, “ what the hell are you smiling about?” Asked a very pale Reed. “Oh nothing Casper, oh sorry I mean reed, my apologies I mistook you,  you seem quite pale and ghastly.”  reed gingerly flipped me the bird and told me to go shove it where the sun don’t shine, we laughed and were not spooked for a while until, 

“ ladies and gentlemen this is your captain speaking once again, I would like to let you know that we are going to be making our descent and will be touching down in 10 minutes. I want to thank you for flying with us, and I hope you all have a wonderful stay in the beautiful city of Seattle, Washington.”

After which shortly we did touchdown, and once we touchdown everybody clapped and cheered, and I’m not quite sure what for, to be honest. Was it because we made it through the storm and didn’t die or is that because the pilot was capable and did his job and we got free drinks? These are the things we may never know, after landing we exited the plane and got our luggage. We third walked to the taxi terminal and there stood a young wolf holding a sign that said Mr. Creol & assistant Reed, “ you’ve got to be shitting me right now,” exclaimed Reed “ assistant Reed? In what capacity will they put me in the category of the assistant, I mean damn I’m at least Vice President!” I elbowed Reed in the sternum “ Reed you are my beta, please act accordingly.” I Said, Cooley.  His head drooped slightly, “yes alpha.” I nodded, “it’s fine to joke around but please be wary of where we are. we don’t know these people and whether or not they are going to be some of the packs signing a treaty with us, we must be careful with our actions and words.” Reed straightened up, “of course, well best get going I guess.” He smiled. 

We approached the young wolf holding the sign, “Hello I am Mr. creol and this is my partner Mr. Reed, we wish to see your boss as soon as possible.” The young wolf straightened up quickly and said, “welcome to Seattle Mr. creole that’s a pleasure to meet you, if you follow me this way will get your luggage situated and be on our way my boss looks forward to being able to meet you.” 

After walking out he pops the trunk of a nary nice 2019 Escalade, after our luggage was settled in the back we stepped into the vehicle and then left the airport terminal. While Reed was checking emails on his computer and making sure the pack was OK, I decided to try to get to know our driver, “Thank you for picking us up, what’s your name?” “Paul sir, I’m one of the park warriors.” He replied curtly and focused back on the road. After his gruff demeanor, I decided to let the conversation die off, my phone vibrating in my pocket caught my attention. 

My mother was calling me, I answered abruptly, “mom? What’s going on you all ok??”  “Yes dear, we’re all ok I just wanted to check on you and see how everything was progressing?” I sighed in contentment, “ everything is fine, a few minor changes had to be made but otherwise fine. Though for the moment, after the meetings, I’ll call you and I may need jace to run an emergency pack meeting depending on how this goes.” A slight pause echoed the line, “Alex should we be worried?”  I shift in my seat, “ if I’m being honest I don’t know yet, but we need to be prepared for whatever might happen, so in that event, for now, have Jace Increase training, and security.” “I understand sweetheart I’ll tell him right away, I have to go I need to check on your dad but call me when you have a chance after some meetings to update me on what needs to be done or call Jace I replaced his phone as he broke the other.” She laughed quietly at that as did I, Jace has a horrible habit of breaking things on accident. “Alright mom I love you say hi to dad and I’ll call you soon.” I smile, “Love you too honey bye-bye.” The phone lines disconnect, and I lean back and rest a bit tired from flying for almost 18 hours straight. My eyes close and I dream of my mate with raven hair I see so often in my dreams but her face can never be seen, I let my mind slip away with thoughts of her until nothing but sleep overtakes me.
