Mixed feeling

Chapter 7.) Different Opinions Mavis POV: F*ck. That’s such an understatement, I’ve never felt so horrified in my life. I'm in a room full of alphas and my mate just happens to be sitting in the room with them, and of course, he is the possessive type. Though it was fun to watch Arron get shot down when he thought he had any say in anything that had to do with me, he can go to hell for all I care. This guy though dear moon goddess, he was beautiful, tall muscular, big, and when I say big, I mean like a puppy with huge paws who finally Grew into them kinda big, it’s intimidating. Though something about him my I feel warm and happy but also irritated and snappy, but that could because I’m a Luna and an alpha my self so it makes sense my wolf feels threatened by another alpha, even if it is my mate. My father cleared his throat, “So, your my daughter's mate.” I swear the whole room dropped 15 degrees as he stated that, it was enough to make me shiver. “Yes, I am and moon goddess definitely blessed me with a strong and breathtaking mate, you raised an incredible daughter.” My heart flutter at his words, “Pretty words from a man who hasn’t even spoken to her once.” My brother retorted. That’s when I realized he was right we didn’t even know each other! So how does he know I’m these things? Mate bond or not you should emptily praise someone you don’t know. This thought made me angry, “well I have not spoken but I have seen her in action. Today in fact at pike place, when you were flying through downtown like a pack of men protecting a fierce princess who could kill as well as her knights.” I swear my heart stopped, he was there he saw me, he knew I was his mate. “If you were there why the hell didn’t you help us!?” My father bellowed slamming his fist on the table cracking it slightly, “my daughter was in danger and you sat there like some love-struck moron?!” This time it wasn’t my father who was angry it was my mate, “I wasn’t aware she was in danger! Hell be damned if I didn’t try to get to you all, you were just far enough away I could get to you before you took off like a mad man in your armed caravan.” I stared directly at my father, which was his wolf's way of challenging him. He did not like that one little bit, cause the next thing I know the tables broke and two alphas are fighting each other, landing blow for blow and that was a bad place to be in cause there is collateral damage that can transpire cause when wolves fight with emotion they get something tunnel vision, which can end up hurts the spectators, aka me and my brothers. As the fight continued my father was taking a fair amount of damage which came as a surprise as my father has fought many pack wars and mostly come out unscathed unless someone used underhanded tactics like wolfsbane or silver weapons, but those only pissed him off enough to kill on sight. Though with this fight they were fighting fair and my mate was strong and fast, my father was good but I had to hand it to my mate he was better even though he was younger. After a time my father was worn out and so was my mate and when they stopped, they nodded saying the fight was a draw. They both put on clothes as they were basically naked as most of their clothes were sheared off or hang by a stitch or two. I looked away cause my dad, and gross, and my mate who was mouth-watering good looking get beat up. My face felt warm at the thought of my mate basically naked. “You fight well, I haven’t had a good fight in years, what’s your name young Alpha?” My father smirked at him. “My name is Atlas Creol, an Alpha raven.” I smiled at him. Atlas. I liked that name it felt right thinking of that name, and it was unique. “You fight well Alpha Creol, and you seem to dearly care for my daughter, can I have your word you will love and protect her the cost of your own life?” Atlas stood up straight and looked at my father,” yes Alpha Raven you have my word.” My father's face softened and he smiled at Atlas, “well then welcome to the family!” My heather said loudly, my brother laughed at atlas’s expression, as it was one of confusion and disbelief. “Better treat my sister right your we will take you out, Mr.Alpha!” My brother smiled, “damn right we will! l my other brother chimed in. Though at that moment I wasn’t happy, why was I getting no say in this? Where the hell was the consideration for how I felt about this huge life-changing moment and how it would affect me, “I growled making everyone go quiet and look at me wide-eyed, “ I’m sorry” I stated. “I just thought I would let you all know that I’m still here since it seemed as though you temporarily forgot that.” I gritted out. Atlas's smile faded into a look of well I’m not sure how to put it, maybe concern, or hurt or even anger, it’s hard to label. “Are you not happy with me? “ his voice was laced with hurt and disbelief. “Oh of course, how could I not be happy, with my father and brothers fawning over you cause you can fight well and have pretty words, I mean who wouldn’t want to have their future decided by there family without being asked, right?” My words held so much contempt and venom I was surprised with my self. His gaze turned hard, “so what would you prefer the pretty boy downstairs who wants to play grab-ass with you, and keep like your some trophy mate?” And In one sentence he was able to piss me off, unlike my father however I have a lid on my wolf and fighting, instead, I like to provoke people with words because it is far easier. “Well, at least if I choose Aaron it would be my choice, instead of some random wolf showing up trying to curry favor with my family to get in my pants. Anyway who are you to say you aren’t the same saying I’m strong and beautiful, aren’t you just trying to butter me up some I am certain to become your trophy wife! Let’s be real here the only reason you even have a chance in hell with me is because of the mate bond, and I refuse to give in to it until a time you can prove to me there is something more than I primal urge to mate and f**k each other!” I turn a threw the door open and left I turn the corner and ran down the stairs and out the front door. I ran to the trees and transformed shredding my clothes without care and running hard and running fast away from that scene, running from a family that didn’t understand anything about me other than the mold they tried to cram me into. Atlas POV: Well s**t, didn’t expect that. I stood there with my mouth open not knowing what to say, along with my mates' father and her two brothers. “Yeah should have warned you she has a nasty temper and an even worse temper, good luck with that.” Her brother patted me on my back while walking out of the room. “She didn’t mean all that,” I looked to the other brother as he spoke, “she gets angry when she feels cornered, and says whatever comes to mind regardless if it can be hurtful, but when you let her cool off she will come back and apologize.” He smiled. “ so you think she will come back and apologize?” He looked at me, “Oh that’s how she is with us, with you I have no clue she might try to kill you for all I know.” He smiled and shrugged as he walked out of the room. I see that sarcasm runs in the family, good to know. I sighed and sat in a chair as I rub my face in my hands. I heard the chair next to me creak, “She has been like that since she was 11. whenever she feels trapped, or scared she lashes out in an attempt to protect herself.” I looked up to listen, “when she was 11 there was a lot that happened, I’m sure you heard about the territory wars here in the states?” I nodded, “ Good, then you know most of the story, but here is what you don’t know that the alpha who was leading the rouges was not old and senile like everyone says, he is young roughly I’d say maybe 17 at the time I saw him, I never thought someone so young could be so violent and crazed, when my pack fought him helping an allied pack we weren’t there to fight, we were there on an alliance signing, so my family was with me my wife and our two sons and my daughter.” He paused as he controlled his anger and his wolf was angrily revisiting the memories, he continued after a few moments, “ as we were celebrating the treaty being signed with a dinner, a wolf barged in from their border patrol, saying that rogues were coming and they were holding them off at the boarders but they couldn’t mink link because of some gas they released. so the young wold ran to warn us, We rallied the men quickly and prepared for battle. All the women and children were taken to the cellars to tunnels that lead out of the main building in case of an invasion, my wife was with them all with our kids when my wife lost grip of my daughter in the crowd of women, and they got separated from each other. My daughter got tossed to the side of one of the walls, where she stayed on the main level above where everyone descended, and then they sealed the route before she could follow them. My daughter ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife and hid in the pantry, hoping to not be found but ready to defend herself as I taught her.” He paused and took a deep breath. “During that time the rogues and their self-proclaimed leader, descended upon us in wave after waves, releasing gas canisters full of smoke that robbed us of our linking abilities, though just before we were able to contact a witch who was able to assist us during the battle to disperse the smoke and help us regain our senses, the battle dragged on for hours, it was exhausting many wolves died on both sides, though we were winning. Well that’s is what we thought until I heard her scream, my whole world shattered as I saw my daughter being dragged out of the house by ones of the wolves by her hair with a knife in his stomach, he threw her to the ground where she yelped, I was so angry, I was only seeing red but then the leader of those rogues tore the wolf to bits, leaving us all astounded and after he was done massacring his own member he looked to my daughter, and said the most horrifying thing, he said “mine.” I clenched my fists angered that someone else dares lay claim to her, she was MY MATE!” He rubbed my shoulder smiling I relaxed a bit as he continued, “My daughter ran fast and hard straight for me, I had never run so hard in my life,” his voice was full of emotion and unsteady tears threatened to spill out of his eyes, he quickly cleared his throat and rubbed his eyes and continued, “I remember screaming her name as he grabbed her, then I was hit from the side by a wolf, I fought it off but not before he was out of sight, with my daughter. After the battle we regrouped, my wife ran to us with our boys, saying mavis got separated from her and she couldn’t find her. she was crying so hard, it broke my heart. I had the boys go inside with my beta, as I sat my wife down to tell her what happened, she screamed and cried and cried forever letting go of her hand, for not being more careful. I held my mate and told her everything would be fine and that it wasn’t her fault that it was mine for not being able to protect my own pup from danger. After we sent out search parties they were everywhere looking for mavis, though for weeks we looked and found nothing. Every day my wife got worse she cried more, ate less, and barely slept. After two months of searching the scouts were in a rural area where there was a few building, when they saw a girl running with bloody feet’s and torn clothes, it was mavis. She was covered in cuts and was so skinny you could see her bones. The men grabbed her and brought her back she was so weak she just collapsed in their arms. To this day she hasn’t spoken a word about what happened to her, but she has never been the same ever since she came back, she was no longer my happy little girl she was a scared angry little wolf, “ he sighed, “whatever happened to her made her wolf come forward five years too early, which has had some positive and negative effects. She is stronger and more skilled than most wolves her age but she also more emotional and triggered than others as well which leads her to be rash and abrasive. She has suffered a lot so please have some patience with her, she will come around as you both get to know each other and let your trust and bond grow.” I smiled and thanked him for telling me what happened, after he left I sat there angry at myself for not trying to talk to her more and consider maybe this was overwhelming for her. I walked out of the room resolute with only one goal in mind, I would find mavis and talk with her earn her trust and her love, so I could be the person she could depend on to help her when she couldn’t help herself, and be there when she needed someone to encourage her as she does it herself. I turned the corner and walked downstairs to the front door when I saw that arrogant bastard. Leaning on the front door frame, he looked at me and smirked, “haha, wow lost your mate in under two hours that has to be a new record, oh but don’t worry when she comes back begging me to be her mate, I’m sure moon goddess will pity you give you a second chance mate. I mean it’s what a useless excuse for an alpha like you deserves.” He walked away without another word, and oh moon goddess, I wanted to tear him to pieces but I had more important matters to deal with than that bastard. I had to find mavis and that’s exactly what I was going to do.                Happy new year's dear readers! I hope your enjoying “Crossroad Mates” so far, I apologize I'm not updating a lot.
