Epilogue

920 Words
It’s been five years since Evelyn Sanchez and Alexandra Collins have passed on. During these past years, Kai kept his promise he made at Eve’s funeral. The two girls have seen a few girlfriends of Kai’s, each time they have been there to hear everything they said. Every so often, Lexie and Eve visit their graves; these were the times Kai was also there to visit. After Eve’s death, Kai Visited every day or at least every week. Currently, after all these years, Kai visits at least once a year. The day Kai introduced Erika, both of the girls loved her. She helped Kai move on as it was hard for him, despite him saying he’ll move on from their deaths. Erika saved Kai from an even deeper depression. The two lovebirds met when Erika came to Kai's high school. Kai’s attendance wasn’t the best, which was caused by him working. As Kai is shaking out the blanket, Erika comes over with their three year old daughter, named after the two girls they’re visiting. Evelydra. It’s a unique name, some might call it weird even, but it holds so much significance in Kai’s life and Erika respects that. “Lyddy, let me tell you a story of my two best friends who had a tragic end.” Kai tells Evelydra the story of his first love, Lexie, and his best friend, Eve. Even though Erika has heard of the story before, she still tears up. To Erika, the story is a tragic love story, like Romeo and Juliet, minus the part where their love was openly forbidden. The parents of Eve and Lexie tell the story where two best friends couldn’t live without each other while Kai, a close friend, tells the story of two best friends who loved each other. They loved each other so much, one couldn’t live without the other. As Kai tells the story, Evelydra starts bawling her eyes out but is so interested in the story, she doesn’t bother to ask her dad to stop. The tale is short, but tragic all the same. Sitting behind the tombstones, Eve and Lexie listen to the tale that Kai tells. They listen as if it wasn’t theirs but it was. They relive the time they spent together during the telling of their tale. It was at this moment the two girls saw Erika looking at Kai with as much love as they have for each other. This made them smile; knowing their love is strong and no matter how much they might fight or disagree, the love for eachother will conquer over their differences. It was a year after Eve and Lexie’s death they were introduced to Erika. A year after that, Kai proposed. They knew he was going to propose as the previous week, he told them. The life he’s living has made both Eve and Lexie proud of their friend. When Kai proposed, all the friends he had made in his life were there to witness it. He proposed at the graveyard, wanting even the dead to witness his life changing decision. During the year Erika was dating Kai, she saw just how much these two girls who are buried six feet under means to him. Every event Eve and Lexie witnessed. During these five years, they followed Kai around. As such, they were even there when Evelydra was born. Eve and Lexie, during the first year, decided to watch over Kai. The events were no matter what they saw, they just wanted to make sure he was okay. They made this pact when Eve died. After a few hours, Lyddy fell asleep with tear streaks on her face, which made the married couple pack up and leave. Erika took Lyddy to the car as Kai folded the blanket and grabbed the basket. “I love you two,” Kai starts to say, looking at their tombstones. “I’m really happy with my life and what I became. I’m a husband and father. I wish I could have watched you two blossom and become mothers, but life had another plan for you two. Please be safe and take care of each other.” With his parting words, he put the necklace and bracelet on Eve’s tombstone and headed to the car, putting everything he was carrying in the trunk. With this visit, they drove away and would visit a couple more times during the following years. As soon as Lyddy was old enough to drive, she went to their grave. All she did was ask for advice or for someone to talk to when she felt no one would listen to her. Talking to the graves always made Lyddy feel better. Every time, Eve and Lexie would hug Lyddy even though they can’t. Their arms would go through Lyddy, making her shiver but it was those moments she knew they were trying to hug and make her feel better. With these parting words, this story ends. This was a tale of a tragic love story of two females. Their parents would have never approved of their love due to them not believing in such a thing. Every time, they would use their religion as an excuse to not like something. Love who you want to love, despite who approves and who doesn’t. Those who don’t support you are not worth your time. Maybe one day we won’t have to fight to love who we love, but for now, keep fighting. Love is worth the fight.
