CHAPTER 6 Damien POV I woke up, checked the time. It was 7 am. Can't believe I slept. I've been having trouble sleeping but I slept. I got up took my bath. By 8 am I was already having breakfast. I asked mali about her. Was told she was still sleeping. Seriously what kind of girl is she I said inwardly. I continued my breakfast. I finished breakfast and she still wasn't up. I was about to get up. When I saw her walking down the stairs in a night wear that was too big on her. She got to the last step and stood for awhile scanning the area. Mali went to her rescue. “Would you like your breakfast now” Mali asked her and she replied with a nod. She sat down at the very end of the table. Opposite me. She adjust herself. I was holding a newspaper pretending to read. She was looking at me or maybe not. Her gaze was straight right at me but at the same time not on me. Her breakfast came. She started eating. Even requesting for more toast. It was like I wasn't there. She couldn't feel my presence. I was being ignored and I didn't like it. I got up. Walked straight to her. Grabs her wrist, taking her hand of the meal. “I didn't buy you just so you can finish my food did I” I said trying to intimidate her. Her reply shocked me. “If I dropped dead of starvation won't that be more loss” she shot right back at me snatching her hand from my tighten grip. “Come see me after breakfast” I said and walked away. I didn't like the way I was feeling. ZARA’S POV I got up. Looked around me hoped yesterday was all a nightmare but it wasn't it was real, this was really happening. I hugged my knees to my chest thinking what was gonna become of me. My tummy made a sound. I was hungry. With all the event that went down yesterday I couldn't get a meal down. I walked out of the room. Just to the stairs and heard someone eating. I wanted to go back to the room and wait till he leaves but what use would avoiding him be. I took a deep breath. Gathered the little courage I had left and went down. There he was in a white shirt halfly buttoned. Coffee one hand, newspaper the order. He looked dangerous. Don't mess with me was the aura around him. I was distracted from my thoughts by Ms. Mali who asked if I would like my breakfast now I didn't say a word and gave a nod instead. She guarded me towards the dining. I choose the seat farest away from him. In front of him I sat. The dining table was huge could sit about 12 people or so. I didn't know where to look, he was right in front of me, reading a newspaper. His presence already makes me uncomfortable but I didn't show that. I just kept looking absent mindedly. Breakfast finally came “ toast and coffee” not really a fan of coffee but I had it anyway. I asked for more toast. Now fully engrossed with my meal I didn't spare him a glance. I felt someone grab my wrist taking my hand away from my toast “I didn't buy you to come finish my food did I” he said. How he got here I didn't know. Rich people and them trying to feel big. I didn't want him to have that satisfaction. “If I dropped dead of starvation won't that be more loss” I shot right back at him taking back my hand from his grib. “Come see me after breakfast” he said and walked away. Indigestion surely followed after the meal I had, Ms Mali helped me with something that helped. I went back up. To the room. Freshened up, I had nothing else to wear and just put on the night wear again, I couldn't wear the clothes of yesterday again. Too dirty. I went downstairs looking for him. He didn't exactly tell me where he would be. I asked a maid I saw where her boss was and she shook her head in reply. Ms Mali wasn't insight she would have been perfect to answer. I walked towards the door. Opened it but was stopped by the guards out front. Not that I was trying to run. “You ain't thinking of running are you” I heard from a distance. It was him. I didn't know what to call or address him yet. “You belong to me now so don't think of running away cus you won't be able to” he said. I knew that much I can't run and even if I did I wouldn't get far enough before I'm caught and the energy for that is something I didn't have. He walked towards me “follow me” he said. I did just that. We went into a room filled with books. His study. He went and sat on a chair behind a table. He gestured for me to sit facing him, which I did. “Why are you still in that” he asked. His voice cold and bold felt it in my body. I looked down my chest briefly “I gat nothing to wear” I said. He didn't say another word. He slid a paper to me “contract” it said on top with big letters “You'll be my wife for a year after that your freedom and compensation” he said. I was dumbfounded I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He wants me to get married—-- to him. I thought for a while. Did I have a choice. Did I have options. Reality hits hard. I don't. would I survive the year. I doubt. I could feel my body changes how weak I was. Being his wife would at the very least get me drugs. Which I didn't have money to buy. And I could stay in this big mansion and soft bed before dying. I picked up a pen on the table and signed.
