By Patrick Ingold The sky dressed itself in a pale shade of blue and the grass was still wet with dew when I woke. I pulled on my clothes in silence so I didn’t wake my four siblings as they slept in the small trailer house we lived in. Only two of the five of us shared the same father—the twins, the youngest. At the time, my mother was still dating their father, but I knew it wouldn’t last. Just like it didn’t last with my father, or the father of my older brother, or the father of my older sister. I pulled on the pair of hunting boots I’d spent a month’s savings on and reached up into the closet, still careful not to wake my sleeping brother in the bed next to the closet.
