20 Radetzky march (J. Strauss) Javier (thoughts) September 19, end of the afternoon Here we are. The Saint-Amour is a floating piece of joy and Joline Selva is the Queen. She’s wearing the attributes of the position : a long white dress (I saw it yesterday in the Sultan’s store) and a paper flower crown created by our children’s club workshop. She looks like a santera, those women who used to take care of the statue representing the patron saint of my hometown. A long time ago, one of them signaled me to meet her behind the church. I lost my innocence with the saint’s blessing. The pastry cook is exulting. Every time she finishes a crêpe, it’s like she changed lead into gold. She brings it in person to a guest of her choice, as a ritual, and everybody hopes to be the next honored god.
