Ethan's POV I didn't go back to sleep. I sat on the edge of my bed with the lights off, watching the treeline through a gap in the curtains until the sky started turning gray at the edges, and somewhere around five in the morning I gave up pretending I was going to rest and went to find Noah instead. He was already awake, sitting at the kitchen counter with a coffee he hadn't touched, like sleep had abandoned him too for reasons that had nothing to do with what I was about to tell him.
