I rushed out the door to call for help, but as I opened it, the elderly doctor we met while he was being brought out of the emergency operations room was already running towards the room with a nurse trailing right behind him.
I moved back into the room, my flat heels making soft sounds on the hard hospital floor.
The monitors were still beeping loudly, but the doctor was already at his bedside now, while the nurse was on the other side injecting something into his IV strip.
The doctor pressed his stethoscope to his chest to read his heart.
