Birthday Surprise

TYLER'S P. O. V.

I stayed true to my word and made my beautiful mate scream my name in pleasure more times than I can even recall.

The way she smells, and tastes, and all her little moans, Goddess, I'll never have enough of her.

Dani is truly the embodiment of perfection.

We finally get out of the shower and we're drying off. Dani is back to being all shy, it's hilarious and adorable at the same time.

Suddenly my wolf hearing kicks in. Her parents are pulling up in the driveway right now.

"Dani, I want to tell you everything now, but your parents are home," I say.

"But how did you-" she starts to ask, but I cut her off.

"No time to explain now, but I'll come back here tonight okay?" she nods and I kiss her delicious honey lips quickly. "Please don't leave your house today...it's not safe," I add while throwing on the borrowed clothes and making my way over to her bedroom window.

"What are you talking about?" she whispers.

I shake my head at her. "Later, okay? And don't tell your parents about the wolf," I say as I climb out of her window and lean on the sill.

"You know about the wolf?" her eyes are wide, but then she sees that I'm about to jump from the window sill and her expression quickly changes from confusion to one of panic. "Tyler don't, you'll break your legs!" she cries, trying to pull me back into her room.

I chuckle. Goddess, she's so cute. I turn my head to the side and give her a quick kiss on her nose. "I'll be fine baby. Who do you think saved you from the wolf?"

With that, I jump down to the ground below and run towards the trees, leaving my mate standing at her bedroom window with her mouth wide open.

Once I'm hidden enough by the trees, I take off the borrowed T-shirt and sweatpants and stash them in a nearby bush, before shifting and making my way back to the packhouse.

I need to help my parents with the preparations for the burial ceremony, then have another chat with the rogue prisoners.

Whoever this "master" of theirs is, he's gonna pay for attacking my pack and my mate.

I'll make him suffer for everything, and when I'm done, he'll be begging me to kill him.

DANI'S P. O. V.

What in the actual fudge did I just witness?

My boyfriend just jumped down from my bedroom window and ran off into the trees like it was the most normal thing in the world... and he told me that he saved me from the wolf!

Who, or rather, what is Tyler Black? He's not your average teenager that's for sure.

"Knock, knock," dad's voice calls to me from the other side of my bedroom door, "can I come in?" he asks.

"Just a second, dad," I call back as I run to my closet to throw on underwear, a little yellow sundress and a pair of flip flops. I go to open my bedroom door, expecting to see only my dad, but instead my whole family's standing there - even Ryan.

"Surprise!" they all shout together.

I just stand there close to tears at seeing them all together again.

"You guys," I say as they all engulf me in a big hug. "Okay, I'm definitely surprised. I mean, my birthday's only tomorrow."

"Yes, well we couldn't wait until tomorrow to give you your gift... it's too big to hide from you." my mom says with a mischievous smile.

My eyes are wide as I look at the small rectangular car key dangling in front of my face now and my mouth just about drops to the floor.

"No way!" I shout at all of them and make a run for the front door. I open it and standing there in the driveway is a gorgeous, brand new Volvo S60... in red!

I'm in love.

I give everyone a hug, squeezing them extra tight this time. I almost didn't get the chance to have this wonderful surprise and to hug my big brother again.

"Awh Dani, don't cry," mom says, but there's tears in her eyes too.

I laugh. "I'm just so happy," I reply truthfully. "Thank you all so much."

We go inside and dad brings out a bottle of champagne. We each take a glass (the twins only get a little bit in their glasses) and cheers together.

This is, by far, my favorite birthday ever... and it's not even my birthday yet.

Now begins the patient wait to find out if I'm dating the hero or the villain of my story.

I'm sitting up in bed with my laptop open in front of me, trying to do some prep work for my English essay that's due next week, when I hear movement at my bedroom window.

Tyler smiles at me as he climbs over the sill and closes the window behind him.

I close my laptop and put it down on my nightstand, moving over so there's place for Tyler to sit next to me.

He joins me under the covers and pulls me closer to his side.

Our lips find their way to each other and everything is all right in the world again. God, I love this boy so much.

Tyler gently cups my face in his strong hand and stares into my eyes. "So, I think you deserve an explanation," he starts. I nod for him to continue.

"You don't live in the world you think you do... There's a lot more supernatural things than you would ever care to imagine."

He leans his head back against my pillow and stares up at the ceiling. "I'm one of those things," he says softly, almost in a whisper.

"What exactly are you?" I ask him, my voice is a little shaky. Please don't tell me that you shoot webs from your wrists, I think to myself.

"Dani, I'm a werewolf."

I look at him like he's grown two heads then move away from him. "Like the wolf that attacked me today?" I barely get the words out I'm so frightened.

He nods slowly and tries to reach for me. I instantly recoil from him. "Don't touch me!" I shout. "I need you to leave... please just leave me alone."

"Dani, there's more that you need to-" he starts.

"Leave NOW!" I cut him off and throw the window wide open. He looks so sad, and my hearts breaks at the sight, but I just can't see him right now, knowing he's one of them.

That wolf nearly killed me today and I'm terrified of something like that ever happening again.

He looks like he wants to say something more but then closes his mouth and climbs through the window again.

"I love you, baby, and I'll never hurt you... I'll always keep you safe," he says in a soft voice before he vanishes into the night.

I lay back on my bed and cry myself to sleep... falling back into that same dream. The wolf with green eyes stalks towards me. Tyler?
