I'm Not a Normal Teenager

DANI'S P. O. V.

The whole "private talk" with Brian lasted all of 2 minutes so no one was looking for me when I got back to the gym, but Lee immediately ran over to me with a look of concern flashing in her green eyes.

"Dani are you okay? Your head is bleeding!" she panics and turns my head to the side so she can have a better look at my wound.

I gently push her hand away from my face.

"I'm fine really, what I need to do is to ice this bad boy," I hold up my right hand that, just a few moments ago, broke Brian's nose.

My knuckles are swollen and bruised but I don't think I broke any bones.

Lee's eyes widen and she grips my hand gently between hers, running her dainty fingers over my bruised knuckles.

"What happened?" she asks softly. It looks like she's genuinely terrified.

Just then, Brian stumbles into the gym, pinching his nose that's still dripping blood. He narrows his eyes at me, and I give him my deadliest glare in return.

"That happened," I say to Lee.

She follows my eyes and gasps when she sees Brian's bloody face before he disappears into the boys changing room.

I've never been much of a fighter, but our dad taught me and the twins how to defend ourselves from unwanted advances.

From the look of Brian's face, dad's lessons definitely paid off.

"Uhm, let me go ask coach if I can take you to the nurse's office," she says, not waiting for my reply.

I'm pulling a twig out of my hair when she returns with my bags. I raise an eyebrow at her.

"Coach Wilson says you're excused from the rest of the lesson."

I shrug and grab my bags from her. I will happily take being excused from this nightmare of a class any day.

LEE'S P. O. V.

"So just keep that ice on your hand until the swelling has come down and I'll be back with some painkillers for you in just a bit, dear," the nurse says to Dani before leaving the office.

I've already mind-linked Brie to tell her about the incident and, even though I really didn't want to, I had to fill Tyler in as well. He's my Alpha, and Dani's his mate so Brian will have to be dealt with in accordance with our wolf laws.

It's a good thing that Coach Wilson is also a member of our pack - most of the staff here at Green Hills is, including Principal Jeffery - so it was easy to get him to excuse us from gym.

"Earth to Lee, hello!" a hand is being waved in my face. "You spaced out again." Dani says, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Oops, sorry Dani, I was thinking about this new recipe I'm gonna try out when I get home today," I lie.

"Mmm... Can I be a taster?" she wriggles her eyebrows at me and grins like a maniac.

I have to laugh at her. Dani's not asking if she can taste the finished product. No... she wants to be there so she can lick the mixing bowl and spatula afterwards.

"Yeah sure, you gonna come over to my place tonight?"

"Actually, let me get back to you on that. El's probably gonna use the whole "I'm too sad from my breakup to work" excuse to get out of her shift at our bookstore today." Dani replies.

"Wait, Liam broke up with El?" I ask her, totally confused.

"Yeah," she replies. "Now I'll probably be roped into taking over her shift."

This morning at pack training, I'm pretty sure I overheard Liam tell Tyler that he was definitely mates with the Carstens twin.

Uh oh, if El is not Liam's mate that means... Jane is!

"Hello, Lee!" Dani's waving her hand in my face again. "Did you hear me?"

I smile sheepishly at her. "No, sorry."

Dani rolls her eyes and sighs dramatically in mock frustration. "I said I can probably come over after my shift ends if that's not too late?"

"Yeah, we should invite Brie and have a sleep over!" I exclaim, clapping my hands together in excitement.

The nurse comes back in the room with the painkillers and a glass of water for Dani, then dismisses us.

We head to the bathroom first so I can help Dani wipe the small patch of dry blood out of her hair and so she can change back into her jeans.

Tyler mind-links me while Dani's changing in the stall to say that he's waiting for her at her locker.

"Hey Dani, I have to go now. I'll see you at lunch, okay?" I tell her.

"Yeah, no problem. Thanks, Lee!" she replies.

I hesitate for a moment, wondering if I should walk her to her locker. Tyler may be my Alpha, but Dani is my best friend, and I will always have my friend's back no matter what.

The door of the stall opens. "Oh, I thought you were going?" she asks me.

"Yeah well, I wanted to make sure you didn't pass out trying to jam your new big butt into those jeans."

"Har-har you're hilarious, " she says sarcastically while rolling her eyes at me.

"And you love me," I reply, sticking my tongue out at her. "Let's go."

We've got a date with the Alpha, I mentally add.

TYLER'S P. O. V.

I'm leaning against Dani's locker. To be honest, I didn't even know which one it was until today, but when I walked past and the most intoxicating scent - a mixture of hazelnut and honey - filled my nostrils, I new this one was hers.

That same smell had taken over my car this morning and I'd had to restrain my wolf the whole ride.

Hunter was itching to get out, and when her arousal hit me and she crossed her legs, it took me nearly tearing the steering wheel completely off to stop him from surfacing and marking Dani right there and then.

My beautiful mate comes into view and it takes everything in me not to run up to her, scoop her up into my arms and just protect her from everything.

I wait patiently for her to get to me, all the while I can see she's confused as to why I'm here at her locker.

As soon as she's within reach, I take her bruised hand in mine and examine it closely.

Then I gently kiss each of her knuckles, not caring what anyone else may think.

I thought that maybe I could wait until my birthday party on Saturday, ask her out on a date, steal a kiss from her here and there, and do all the things normal teenagers do when they're dating... but I'm not a normal teenager, I'm a werewolf - and an Alpha at that.

After Brian touched what is MINE I felt like ripping him limb from limb and I can't very well go around snapping the necks of every guy who shows interest in my mate (especially since some are human) so I have to do the next best thing: I have to mark my territory now.

I want the world to know she's mine and I will end anyone's life in a heartbeat if they ever try to cause my mate harm again.

"Tyler what are you doing?" she asks in a whisper, but doesn't pull her hand away.

Oh Goddess, the way she says my name. It does things to my body I can't even put into words.

Her cheeks are turning the most beautiful shade of pink and my mind wonders if the rest of her skin will be as flushed when I have her naked and writhing beneath me. My wolf wonders the same and he's eager to find out.

I push him to the back of my mind. Calm down, Hunter, we have to do this at her pace. She's human, remember?

He only whimpers in reply, not happy that he has to wait to mark his mate.

"Wanna get out of here?" I ask her, still planting soft kisses on her knuckles, inching up to her wrist.

Her eyelids flutter in pleasure and I can't stop my heart from racing in happiness, seeing the effect my touch has on her body.

"I... have... class..." she stammers, looking around nervously. "I'll get into trouble-"

Lee smiles and mind-links me her unofficial "blessing" before turning to Dani, "It's okay, hun, I'll cover for you. No teacher can resist my charms." she emphasizes her words by fluttering her eyelashes in mock innocence.

Dani laughs and my heart aches. How is it possible for her to be even more beautiful when she laughs?

"Shall we?" I ask, putting my arm out for her to take.

She throws her hands up in defeat and sighs, but smiles at me nonetheless.

"I broke a boy's nose today, what's a few school rules anyway?" she shrugs and links her arm through mine.
