  "You bet I am," I shot back without hesitation, and he groaned, dragging his frustration out like it pained him to do as I asked.   "f**k!" Rio cursed, running a hand through his long curls, the strands catching between his fingers as if he wanted to tear them out.   His chest rose and fell in sharp bursts before he exhaled, his shoulders squaring like he was being forced to make a reluctant decision.   "Jackson, can we be friends again?" he said finally, his tone dripping with sarcasm, the sneer curling at his mouth mocking every word.   I scoffed. "Do better, Rio; that is such a flimsy way of mending fences."   "You know what? I agree with her," Jackson piped in after minutes of being silent, his voice calm but edged with quiet fury.
