We make our way back down to the party room.
“You guys just missed Avalon.. She.. left.” Vi says with a look of confusion on her face.
“What do you mean, left?” I ask.
“She said she wanted some time to figure some things out on her own and left with a bag.” Vi swigs her beer.
“Wow. Did she seem ok? Normal eye color and everything?” I study her.
She sort of looks like she’s in shock, not catching my eyes. “Yeah.. I think so.”
“Did she say where she’s going?? Or why?? I thought you two had a thing going?”
This can’t be good.
“She didn’t.. she just said she’ll come back here later with no explanation of when that would be..” Vi replies again, still looking uncomfortable.
The elevator dings and in walks Katie.
“Are you sure you should be out so publicly?” Katie hisses at me
