AUBREY'S POV I couldn't stop staring. Even as Knox casually shrugged into a black silk robe, my eyes betrayed me, following the play of muscle beneath his skin. The material clung to his still-damp body in ways that didn't help my composure. His expression remained dark, a stark reminder of my earlier resistance to moving in. The guilt of that, combined with exhaustion and the lingering unease from Jax's visit, loosened my tongue. "I'm sorry," I said softly, the words surprising us both. "About earlier. I've been... the dreams about my pack's m******e keep getting worse. I'm not myself." Something in Knox's face softened, the tension in his shoulders easing. "You could have told me." "I know." But did I? Could I really tell him anything when every truth between us was wrapped in lies?
