Chapter 2: A New Reason.

463 Words
I woke up to the soft feeling of wet grass on the morning dew. I wake up and see a girl with orange hair right next to me. Why? Why would she be next to me while I'm waking up? I'm still so confused. That moment of insanity. The rage. The adrenaline. Is this my punishment? What did I-? Now I remember. The bloody knife. The sword. The pain. Emotional and physical. It was all my fault. That damn scythe. That s***h. It was... powerful. How did the god of death have so much power? The girl is speaking! "Um… Hello!" I have a question burning in my mind. "Who are you? And where am I?" She looked nervous about answering the question. I still wonder where I am. The grass is still wet, but I'm getting used to the feeling. The girl is finally going to answer my questions! "You're... dead. It's my job to help souls pass on. "Wait what? I'm dead? But how...? Was that attack by the god of death really that strong? "So what is your name?" She seemed to hesitate again before replying. "My name is Eylul..." Eylul? What in the hell kind of name is that? Actually, she knows a lot of things I don't. It probably makes a lot more sense than I realize. "So what do you mean by, you have to guide my spirit?" I asked this in a relatively monotone voice, to not appear to be threatening her. She could probably kick my ass in two seconds flat. Hell, for all I know, that's what her job is! "You're here because you're dead. The dead must be guided to heaven or hell, based off the actions they committed in their life." But why? What did I do to get here? I mean I know damn well I'm going to hell if I'm getting judged, that's for damn sure. "So, why do I have to go through it? I met the god of death, and he gave me an offer to free my family, under the condition that I defeated the seven deadly sins." She seemed taken aback by this information. "He- he gave you that offer? This is not a small matter! You must be taken to my father right now!" I am now the one surprised. I try to run but it's useless. A guy who was over eight feet tall appeared in front of me and slammed his giant mace down, right at me. I barely dodge it. I summon that sword again, but I feel a sharp pain in my neck before a sleepy feeling. Poison dart! Sedation! Dammit! I let down my guard! The last thing I see before falling unconscious is that girl, telling off that giant.
