The Reckoning
The press conference room buzzed with tension.
Cameras were already rolling. Reporters scribbled in notebooks, murmuring guesses. The podium stood like a guillotine at the center of the stage, draped in the branding of Carter Industries.
Juliet stepped onto the platform, elegant and controlled in a deep navy suit. Her expression was unreadable — poised, deadly. To anyone watching, she was the picture of a woman who had spent her life crafting perfection. And today, she intended to ruin Anna Leclair.
She tapped the mic. “Thank you all for coming. Today, we’re here to discuss disturbing allegations concerning Anastasia Leclair—”
The doors burst open.
Gasps filled the room.
Daniel stormed in, his tie loosened, laptop bag in hand. He looked like a man on fire.
