25 COLTON My aching heart didn’t want to go home and attempt to relax in bed. I couldn’t bring myself to head to the north side of town to the empty house waiting for me, the silence that would make me go insane. I drove around, still antsy as f**k, my insides quivering. The how, the why of their choice made no f*****g sense whatsoever, and the lack of answers wouldn’t let my head stop from spinning. As a kid, I’d never gotten the chance to call out foster families who ended up rejecting me, sending me on to the next house because of something I did or didn’t do. Eventually, I learned to be on my best behavior, but that hadn’t panned out either. I’d been promised a forever home twice in my “good” years, only to have that rug ripped from beneath me because of stupid choices I’d made. W
