Chapter 5

"Frankie! Frankie! Are you even listening to me?" Vik asked in frustration. Sighing, Frankie replied, "Sorry Vik, I was thinking about something. What were you saying?" Vik did his typical eye roll, saying, "I was telling you how Baldwin thinks that just because Dane assigned him as his new go to guy his s**t don't stink. He keeps telling me what I can and can't do. Like he's the boss of me. I'm the f*****g lead detective of Crystal, Frankie, and I got that from working hard and being f*****g smart. I won't have no bug a*s telling me what I can and cannot do." "Well, he isn't exactly a bug, Vik. He does have wings and lion parts, too," Frankie said matter of factly. "I don't give a s**t; the man is constantly thinking he can tell me what to do. I know what I would like to do with the prick," Vik snarled. "Get on that prick and ride him like the cowboy wanna be you are?" Frankie said with a laugh. "Frankie, damn it! He is impeding my investigation into the asshole that took Manny," Vik snapped. Frankie stood up and poured a cup of coffee. "Why? Because he wouldn't take you to the pixie realm? Come on Vik, what do you think you would find there? It isn't like the guy that took Manny would write his name on the walls in crayon. You're better off talking to those two guys that found Manny to begin with." Vik scoffed, "Like I haven't tried. The problem is, I can't find them. Ren or Toby or whatever the f**k that s**t is calling himself now, refuses to answer his phone. Why the hell didn't anyone get a good f*****g address on those shits?" "Have you tried asking Manny? I've seen them together a time or two since his return," Frankie answered. Vik sat straight up. "Why in the hell didn't you f*****g tell me, Frankie!" "Maybe because I didn't know you were looking for them. Come on," Frankie said grabbing his jacket. Vik grabbed his as well. "Just where do you think you're going?" "I figured we could take a trip to Angelo's place and talk to Manny," Frankie answered. Vik's brow rose. "And why would you want to go with me to talk to Manny?" Frankie didn't look at his best friend. Vik knew him better than just about anyone. He, Marco, and Angelo had grown up together and although they had not all hung out as besties, as the years went on, Vik and Marco had become just that. "I just want to help." "You like him! Oh, my f*****g God! Angelo will slice your balls off with a spoon, and if he doesn't, Morgan will castrate you anyway," Vik stated passionately. Frankie headed for the door. "Drop it, Vik." Quickly following Frankie out of the door, Vik yelled, "No, I won't drop it. You should stay away from him. If Angelo catches you sniffing around his son's balls he will have yours. You are one of my best friends, Frankie. I don't want to see you get hurt." "I won't get hurt, Vik," Frankie replied getting into his squad car. Vik sat next to him. "Frankie, seriously, don't do this." "I have to, Vik," Frankie whispered. "Why?" "I──I think he── I think he──" "You think he what?" Frankie stopped short from what he was going to say, instead replying, "I think he needs a friend. Manny's been through a lot and I just want to check on him and see if he might feel like talking." Vik snorted, "That boy has not said anything about what happened when he was taken to anyone. What makes you think he'd tell you?" Shrugging Frankie said, "Sometimes it's easier to talk to a stranger than it is to the people you love. At least this way they can't judge what you're going to say because they don't really know you and the repercussions don't seem so hellish." "Damn, if that was shorter it might be something Confucius would say on a fortune cookie." "Shut up asshole, we're here," Frankie said with a laugh. Walking to the front door, Frankie was surprised to hear Manny yelling, "Dad, I'm just going to go out for a while." "Manny, I only asked where you were going." "Since I got back that's one of the many questions you ask," Manny snarled then mimicked, "Manny, where are you going? Manny, when are you coming back? Manny, are you alright? Manny, why don't you come out of your room? I am so sick and damn tired of all the questions. Just leave me alone!" Frankie was not prepared for the door to burst open and Manny to plow past him. He stumbled backwards and fell onto his back with an arm filled with sweet smells and soft flesh. "Well, hello there." Manny didn't look at him, but Frankie could smell the saltiness of his tears. "Hey, it's okay." "I just need to get out of here," Manny muttered as he struggled to get up. Frankie grunted then groaned. "Would you please stop wiggling around." "What the hell? Frankie, what the f**k are you doing to my son? Get off him!" Angelo shouted. Frankie felt Manny's knee getting awfully close to a very important part of his anatomy, grabbing Manny's knee before it could connect, Frankie hissed, "In case you didn't notice, I am not the one on top." Vik snorted, "So the man is a giver and a taker. Interesting." Angelo turned rapidly towards Vik. "I will snatch your d**k and give you a hard on until you choke if you make one more comment about Frankie and his s*x life while my son is riding the man like a cowboy." The image those words brought to Frankie had his c**k harden even more than it already was and that was saying a lot. "Oh, for the love of──Manny get off Frankie this instant!" Angel shouted. Manny twisted. "I am not a child anymore, dad. You can't tell me what to do all the time." Frankie drew in a sharp breath and did everything he could not to move. f**k, he was in trouble. With each movement Manny made, he rubbed their c***s together and Gods help him he was going to f*****g blow. Think about something, Frankie, anything to get this feeling to stop. Nothing came to Frankie's mind except taking Manny right here on the ground. "Manny, you are being ridiculous. I know you are turning twenty-one in two days, but I don't give a damn if you are three hundred and twenty-one, you will always be my baby boy. Now get off Frankie and come inside," Angelo demanded. Manny found a way to control Frankie's urge when his eyes began to glow a fiery red and he could have sworn his face flashed a green color then immediately went back to his normal flesh tone. With amazing agility, Manny left Frankie's body, hissing, "You know nothing! Nothing!" Manny took off and Frankie ran after him. The speed he had was impressive. "Manny! Manny wait!" Manny ran through the woods until he was at the top of the mountain overlooking the bay. “Go away, Frankie. I really just want to be alone right now," Manny snarled. Frankie caught up to Manny and grabbed him by the arm. "I can't do that, Manny. I can't keep seeing you hurting and not try and do something to take that away. Please, talk to me. Let me help you." "You can't!" Manny shouted. "No one can." "We can't if you don't tell us what the hell is wrong! You said the man that took you told you that there would be changes when you turn twenty-one. However, I think those changes already have started. So, talk to me! Tell me what changed?" "Why? Why do you care? You don't even know me!" Manny snarled. Frankie jerked Manny close to him, yelling just as loud, "Because you are my mate!" Manny pulled his arm from Frankie's grasp. "No, I can't have a mate. I can never have a mate." "Well, you don't have to like it, and I'm sorry you're disappointed, but it doesn't change the facts. You. Are. My. Mate," Frankie growled. "It's not that. I mean, I'm not disappointed, Frankie, but you are not going to want me for a mate. Trust me on that," Manny pleaded. "There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, that would make me not want you, Manny," Frankie replied in a deep gravely tone. Stepping back Manny shouted, "I'm a f*****g fairy! The man that took me told me his name was Rune and he was my father. He warned me that I was going to go through a condu something or other. He said it's when my human and fairy merge. Rune told me that things will happen that will be painful and freaky. I don't want to be a fairy, Frankie. I don't want to change. I like who I am. I like being Angelo and Morgan's son. I don't want to lose them and I don't want to be someone else. I want to be me! Everyone is going to hate me because of who I will become." "No, they won't, Manny. You are still going to be the same person in here," Frankie replied softly pointing to Manny's heart. "No merging will change that." "You don't know that, Frankie," Manny replied with tears running down his cheeks. "No, we don't son, but we will do whatever we need to do to help you through this," Morgan said from behind them. "Pop! What are you doing here?" Manny asked in shock. Morgan approached them. "Your dad called me crying. I could barely make out what he was saying. However, when he said you took off, I had to come and find you. Your dad and I have been watching you struggle since you returned home. It has not been easy, Manny. To know your child is hurting and won't let you in so you can help." "Pop, I──" Morgan didn't let him finish. Frankie watched as Morgan got closer, saying, "Manny, there is nothing in this world that would make your dad and I stop loving you or wanting you in our lives. I don't give a s**t if you told us you were a demon from hell. You are our son. You will always be our son, no matter what." "I love you, pop," Manny rasped as he grabbed Morgan and held the man tightly. "Oh, by the Gods, that was so beautiful. I mean, I've seen movies and s**t, but to see it in real life is just radiant," Ollie sputtered as he cried. Frankie drew in a sharp breath. "What the hell are you doing here?" "We live here. Welcome to our humble abode," Ollie said stretching his arms wide. "Actually, we live in the cave just over the cliff, but same difference I guess," Pascal replied as he climbed over the peak and joined his brother. Manny turned to his friends. "Why didn't you tell me you had no home? I would have brought you into mine." "See, I told you we should have just told them. But no, Toby insisted we stay where we are," Ollie grumbled. "Ollie, stop talking," Pascal hissed. "I most certainly won't. Damn it, Pas, I don't know why Toby has not asked Illan and Justice for us to be their ajutors, but I know that I'm sick of this place and I want to ask. Besides that, maybe we can help Manny." "Help me how?" Manny anxiously. Pascal sighed. "You said that Rune is the one that took you so he could tell you about the Caduta. We've heard about it, but never actually witnessed one. What we need to do is find Rune and we can do that by following his magic trail. All magic beings leave one, it's how we found you to begin with." Morgan made a noise, bringing everyone's attention to him. "Let's all go back to our home. I'll contact Illan and Justice and let's make a plan from there." Grabbing Manny by the back of the neck, Morgan gently squeezed. "We will figure this out, son. You just have to trust in your family." Frankie watched as they all started back towards the house. Morgan stopped and turned. "Frankie, aren't you coming? I mean, if Manny is your mate, I would think you want to help." "Of course, I do. I just didn't know if I would be welcome," Frankie replied starting towards them. Morgan chortled. "I have no issue with you being my son's mate. Now, when it comes to Angelo, you are on your own." Ollie snickered. "From the stories I've heard, you might want to get a jock strap with a cup before telling him"
