Whatever George's tactic might be to get Jenny to dwell on the Laura case, Jenny, was not in any way ready to own up or grant the slightest details about Laura. She would rather keep mum and take to pretence about all she saw that night at the white castle. Her life might be in danger the more if she claimed to know, or dared to hold George by his crime.
