Stella had his identity pegged almost instantly.
She hesitated for a beat before reaching out to shake his hand. "Hi, I'm... I'm Yvonna."
Stella had no clue what came over her. Her brain just short-circuited for a split second, and the fake name came tumbling out before she could stop it.
"Yvonna? That's a really pretty name."
Evan frowned for half a second, then his face smoothed right back out as he smiled at her.
"He loves this decor piece so much. He must've been furious when you broke it," he said, nodding at the broken item in her arms.
She sighed heavily. "Furious? He already chewed me out for it! I even shot my mouth off and told him I'd definitely get it fixed."
Well, that was that. The store couldn't do a thing. She was gonna have to go back with her tail between her legs
