Once my feet are on the ground, Alpha Cadeon closes the distance between us. I'm so relieved to see him that I step into his arms thoughtlessly, glad to see a familiar face during this time of need.
"I thought you were gone," he claims as he holds me tighter. The relief I feel starts giving way to the realization that I'm in his arms and his hands are splayed on my lower back. I feel the rapid beating of his heart against my cheek, and his warm scent invades my nostrils.
But I'm not freaked out. It doesn't occur to me once to put some distance between us.
Cadeon shifts so that he's looking at my face. I meet his gaze and our eyes just...lock. The world around us seems to blur, and my attention is solely on his face and how I feel right now.
