Even when I called his name, he looked my way with a vacant expression in his gaze. "What's the matter?" "I have to go," he insisted. "Lilieth." The sound of her name moved through me, forcing its way down my esophagus before settling in the pit of my stomach. "What happened?" "She didn't tell me anything," he claimed as he ran his fingers through his short hair before shaking his head. "I was told she was summoned to The Den." I frown. "To fight? Fight who?" These were the kinds of things we used to do when we were young and had issues to resolve. It was a guy thing. So, why would Lilieth be called there?
