“Should I leave?” Geraint asks hesitantly from where he stands holding Fenrir. He looks uneasily at Lothair, my father, as he enters the chamber. I feel the distaste emanating from him. These two will never be friends, let alone family. I recognise that now. There is too much history between them to be forgiven or forgotten, but I need to have them both at least say what they need to each other — to at least attempt to clear the air and move closer to civility. “If you feel you must, but I would prefer you to stay — I need you and father to sit down and talk this out.” I answer and move to the table, pulling out a chair for my father and then one for Geraint, taking Fenrir from him and putting him down in his bed.
