Chapter 3Mason stretched, warm and cozy in the comfortable bed. He hadn’t slept this well in months, the only downside being he’d forgotten to draw the curtains last night and sunlight flooded the room. He gave the bedside clock a blurry glance—not quite nine. Knowing he wouldn’t go back to sleep, he tossed back the covers and climbed to his feet. Dressing in jeans and sweater, he drew on socks and his boots and made his way to the elevator, noting his dirty dishes were missing from the hall. Several guests stood at the front counter as he exited the elevator, while a young couple, arms entwined, descended the wide staircase.
