Chapter 22025
Isaac places the last of the muffins on the hot pad with care, the calming smell of bananas and chocolate chips wafting through the kitchen area. He moves the single muffin he makes with raisins off to the side before brushing his hands on his jeans. His dad still combines bananas and raisins in his bakes, as no one in the Bates household minds the chewy fruit. Isaac changed his add-in ingredient years ago, however, with the addition of his roommate.
“Oooooh, muffins!” says the man himself, walking through the door and tossing his keys and wallet on the small table next to the coat rack. Jace Conrad, former college football player, current officer of the law, and steadfast friend of Isaac.
“Had a craving, or long day?” Jace asks, closing the door to their apartment.
